Tips to prevent stolen pics?

Yeah, that's pretty much what I'm talking about.

Except your example really does bring to light how distracting something like a watermark can be even if it is mostly transparent. Hate.

I think I'll probably just continue to post my pictures unmarked and deal with the adverse consequences of having them stolen should it happen again.

I've seen some posts in the GB in which somebody attempts to post an image and it ends up being replaced with "This image was stolen from so-and-so.com." That's awesome, I wish I could do that.

If your photos were on a remote server and were only linked in posts here (or wherever) and if the thief was dumb enough to simply copy the linked address instead of downloading the image file and posting it to his own web site, then you could just replace the file on your server with an image that says "Stolen from Lorali82."

Oh. Damn.

I thought it was the internet fairies doing that.

Almost all of the images I've posted on my thread are linked from my .Mac account. I can take them all down by changing a single letter in the name of the directory they're stored in. I doubt I'll do that for the reasons we're talking about here, but I remember the last time I had a picture thread and what a bitch it was to remove the files from all the posts when I decided to take down the thread.

(We're supposed to be able to remove an entire thread by editing the first post, but that option didn't work for me at the time.)

user CP
attachments

you're now in the attachments submenu and can delete them at will
20 per page I think

and the header info is usefull because most sites aren't complex enough to strip it when they're uploaded, some photogalleries do, but its not defualt

anyways
you can set up a script to automaticly watermark images with one click
a 5% watermark is visiable as well

Those were photos that were only up for a limited time, and I had taken them down long before I made this discovery. However, in light of this incident I highly doubt I'll ever post a photo of myself including my face--even for a short amount of time--again.

I'm sorry to hear that and have missed them.

If you figure out how to do that - I'd be interested in knowing.

if it really comes down to it I could offer SOME members of Lit access to a private photogallery inwich they can block domains and possibly block right click saves
it wouldn't take to much to do it

Don't post anything, that's the only guarentee way to not having your pictures stolen. Once you post something on the net, it'll never go away. It'll be on some site somewhere or copies of it on many computers. So, it's really post at your own risk and hopefully find those who steal them.

Generally people steal pics to assume the identity of the person pictured or, in your case, pretend to be a partner or friend of that person.

If you just tag your pictures with a screen name, email address, or most effectively a homepage that'll cut down the efforts of a number of potential thieves.
However, if someone particularly likes your pictures and feels like going through the trouble of cropping out the added caption, they can.

Though, if you place the caption in the middle of the picture I very seriously doubt anyone will steal your photo, however that can take away from the eroticism of a picture, depending on the size of the caption.

I have been toying with the notion of developing a web application that will manage photos and calling apps to make sure this doesn't happen. I am so frickin' addicted to Lorali82' hot ass that I have been going through withdrawals for months without new pictures.

Though I do like the new avatar and profile pic Lorali. As always, delicious...
