The Chinese government focuses on emphasizing education and knowledge, improving their infrastructure, unlike this country's government which currently enjoys dumbing down the masses. The Chinese are also going the way of autocracy, promoting people on the basis of unthinking loyalty instead of competence and building up Xi as a dictator equal to Mao. They can hold things together for now because their wages are so much lower, but as they get more prosperous production will move away from them (to places like Vietnam or Bangladesh) in the same way production moved to them decades ago from places like Japan. Then they'll be facing the same problems as the USA, without the backbone that democracy gives a nation.

Of course, the USA seems to be discarding that very hard-won democracy itself . . .

The GOP can easily solve this issue by impeaching him in the House and then having the Senate remove him. That would take a lot of votes in the Senate, but if they were smart, they would do so to save their pathetic party. Any other intelligent nation of people would have put him out. We are in trouble unless the stupidity stops. If trade agreements need to be amended, put together a logical plan for all parties. A concept of a plan and whipsaw policy doesn't work.

The damage has been done. Even a complete reversal and a change to a thoughtful policy, one that deals with China's real offences (theft of intellectual property, subsidies to selected industries, etc) won't assuage the sentiment that the USA has gone from the side of order to the side of chaos.

China has dropped from 1.5 trillion to 800 billion over the last year or so. They have been preparing for this. Japan as 11 trillion and has started selling.

USA is doing deficit financing and most of those bonds have been picked up by China and Japan in the past. I suspect they won't be buying more - who wnt's exposure to Trump-related risk, after all - and that may not be nice for us. With Japan, South Korea and China in talks, they may well be strategizing together.

It does occur to me that the disastrous impact on the economy and on large US companies, and the money Trump has cost some influential people, may well result in the forced removal of Trump and Vance, regardless of the MAGA base. Either that or a JFK type event.

Actually yes, you can, and a lot of it is to do with Chinese culture and the way, even now, women are treated in north Asian societies, because it applies to South Korea and Japan as well.

I have a couple of Chinese girlfriends from university who came over here to study, married (white) American guys and stayed - they did NOT want to return to life in China where women are very much second class citizens compared to men. Their brothers, on the other hand, all went back to China quite happily. They didn't like American girls at all - not even American-Chinese girls LOL. They were really up themselves, real Mommy's boys who expected to be taken care of and totally up themselves. Did I say that before. LOL. Most Chinese girls I know far pefer life here to China, while the guys are often the other way round. Go figure.

That said, I wouldn't recommend Chinese mail order brides at all. Societal and cultural changes have meant it's very much me me me - and there are a lot of horror stories. Personal knowledge - I had an american-chinese male friend at uni - nice guy, nerdy but nice, and intelligent as - but I wouldn't have dated him to save my life - and his parents arranged a mail order bride from China - actually from the old home village LOL - she came, they married, she got her citizenship - but it turned out her old boyfriend from back home had come over - they were getting it on the whole time - and after she was all legal here, she dumped her "husband", shacked up with her old boyfriend, did the divorce and remarriage thing - pretty crappy situation for my old friend, poor guy, but that sort of thing happens.

I'd recommend Filpina or Japanese myself - NOT Chinese, Vietnamese or Korean - shooting my own ethnicities in the back here but I've met enough to caution wariness LOL. Of course it CAN work out okay, I'm sterotyping a bit but it's best to be really cautious with this kind of thing. Japanese girls, the ones I know at least, are all really nice tho, and very genuine. Filipina's too, altho I always think Filipina girls are way to chubby LOL. (disclaimer: I have NO Filipina friends so I will survive saying that LOL)

It's interesting, the imbalance between the sexes. Population decline due to low birth rate is exacerbated by the fact that the rate is "number of births per WOMAN"! Even if women start having more babies (extremely unlikely, of course), since women are less than half the population, and will be for quite some time to come, those babies will still not be so numerous.
