City building inspector came and went. He made two very valid points. One will cost us a bit of time. Better to catch it now than when we have Great Aunt Lavinia fixin' to move back in on Thursday.
Couple of good images in this one. I'm not using the quote feature because it condenses the text and I suspect that a lot of people won't click the fucking thing.
We are surrounded by the absurd excess of the universe.
By meaningless bulk, vastness without size,
power without consequence. The stubborn iteration
that is present without being felt.
Nothing the spirit can marry. Merely phenomenon
and its physics. An endless, endless of going on.
No habitat where the brain can recognize itself.
No pertinence for the heart. Helpless duplication.
The horror of none of it being alive.
No red squirrels, no flowers, not even weed.
Nothing that knows what season it is.
The stars uninflected by awareness.
Miming without implication. We alone see the iris
in front of the cabin reach its perfection
and quickly perish. The lamb is born into happiness
and is eaten for Easter. We are blessed
with powerful love and it goes away. We can mourn.
We live the strangeness of being momentary,
and still we are exalted by being temporary.
The grand Italy of meanwhile. It is the fact of being brief,
being small and slight that is the source of our beauty.
We are a singularity that makes music out of noise
because we must hurry. We make a harvest of loneliness
and desiring in the blank wasteland of the cosmos.
Tea time. More rain with kittens and their mama running around.
My own little one wanted to keep one of the fur buddies until I had her clean out the litter box a few times, now she's team dog because the field doesn't need scooping
Meh. You get used to it. Good litter and frequency makes it easier. And the kitten helps me.
Home. Supper was just a nuke away. Supper, chil'run! It's just a nuke away. An' gittin' 'er done, too.
The wood butchers never showed. The bossman is firing them after this floor. Good! The duct guys bailed at 1400. It was awfully hot-n-stuffy on the third floor today. Which was good because I got a call from my bank branch which would require a visit, so I was able to get that done today instead of Saturday. Turns out the desk jockey remembered my ID from when we was a teller. She told me that she likes this batch of facial hair better than the last one.
Happy Tuesday!!! Crashed kinda early last night and slept pretty well. It was hot yesterday and that has a way of sucking it right out of you. Indoor cats have eaten. We'll get to the porch panther here in a bit. It's already warm outside and we have the "possibility of sever weather." Because you have to love that.
I wonder if we get any wood butchers today. The bossman may have tipped his hand and done went-n-gave them a case of the Fuck-Its. We'll see. I have a painter and sheetrock crew on standby, but I need some of this last wood butchered first. No matter. The HVAC gang will be there, and I still have to find the plumber.
The weather is too nasty outside and the work I have is all inside so my contractor showed up full force. They're making a ton of noise and even more progress, if they could do this every day they'll have the second building done by the end of the month and I can start renting them out.
As for the little one and kitten care, some people aren't meant to scoop more than ice cream. She's a smart little human bean but physical work can sometimes take a bit of nagging, I'm hoping she grows out of that or becomes a rich CEO so she can hire someone to do it for her.
Home. Stopped at the vegibble stand and scored some more tomatoes. These are from the county up the road which is noted for growing some fine and tasty tomatoes. Came hoe and sliced one and added salt, pepper and mayo and ate it. It was good. I've had better but it was better than the ones I had last week. Like there's really a bad tomato.
Good thing the boss is coming tomorrow. We need to iron some shit out about a wood butcher.
Happy Wednesday!!! Slept okay. The damned cats decided to get up an hour before I did. One wanted attention. She will accept half-assed half asleep attention, so no blood was shed. They're fed, coffee is on, dishes are washed, and all is quiet. There's something about this time of day.
Weather? It's still August doing Augustian things.
No rain, still way too cool for the time of year. We've been ten to fifteen degrees under temp all summer, it's making me nervous for the coming winter. I picked of bunch of romas and turned them into chilli sauce last night, the little one asked about making our own ketchup. I talked her out of that one, there are somethings that just aren't worth the effort and that's one of them.
I hired a new work office elf last week, his training is going well and he's showing me that the last one didn't do half what she should have been.
We haven't broken 90 this summer, we should have hit triple digits multiple times in the last four weeks. We're mid-70s now when we should be upper 80's or higher, something is very off this year.
We got near 90 today. Had all the wheels. We had a good visit, all in all. Got a better handle on the schedule so that we might actually make Target Date #2. Insh'Allah!!!
Home. Had the tomato appetizer. I reckon we'll have glop from last Sunday as the leftover entree.
Happy Thursday!!! Slept okay. Morning ritual is in place. I had to wash the dishes alone - no kitten, so no help. She did want to watch the water run a bit, so we allowed that.
Looks like a couple/three hots days to open next week, and that appears to be the end of 90, according to this thing. I'll believe it when it happens, but it also indicated that we'll be no higher than 85 in about 10 days. Both of thos things would be nice.
Work has started, more coffee is brewing and more rain is on the way.
This weekend shall be shopping with the little human, she took another untimely growth spurt and now everything seems a couple of inches too short, I'm going to blame to cherry tomatoes for this one.
First batch of cukes from my garden, along with dill flowers are all canned and getting happy. The Red Gravy is still about a week off - tomato crop is pitiful this year. Cabbage is a few weeks away from the 5-gal crock.
My garden is caged to keep the local wildlife away. I use recycled glass/plexiglass panels to speed things up in the spring, and this year I had to use them to get the garden above 80 for enough days to get the tomatoes and other nightshade crops to set fruit. The farmers are all saying the crops except hay are horrible this year, even the seed corn fields were terrible.
Yeah, that's where trades work got entertaining was when getting back up after being on the floor for awhile required a bit of planning. A person can also learn the directions the body is designed to move easily and use those instead of doing stuff the hard way.
We have clouds and had a shower this morning. Wood butchers and duct guys are here getting things done. Waiting for the concrete guy.
My garden has done pretty well this year. It's not a huge garden but it has produced enough to keep me busy packing jars and running through a canner or 2 a day on my days off. The corn is still a couple of weeks from ripe which is fine with me because by then the current crops will have waned or completely quit producing.
The greenhouse has not done well this year. I should be overflowing in tomatoes and there's barely enough to eat. It's been a cold summer and even though, I'm not heating a greenhouse. The cuke plants are thriving and producing porn star cukes. Cucumbers at all meals.
