Veroe's world of geeky things

I'm looking forward to the next Avenger which

Seem like it may focus on the Infinity Gauntlet which if this is true makes me wonder how or if the can get Spider-Man.

Yeah, seemed more like a intro to Dr. Strange or something, right? And I don't know how well he'd really do.

I know Dr. Strange is big enough to get his own movie. Sad to say, but he'd probably have to be like Hawkeye and turn up on someone else's movie. I'd love to be wrong on that though.

I honestly don't think Dr. Strange is main-stream enough to get his own movie, I fear. And don't expect to see the Avengers with Wolverine and Spidey any time soon, because, as was mentioned earlier: Fox.

I think it's incredible enough that Marvel are turning Guardians of the Galaxy into a movie...

Sony owns the movie rights to Spider-Man.

my first experience with the guardians was Annihilation and onto the Thanos Imperative. I'm curious how they'll translate that to the big screen especially Rocket Raccoon.

I liked Thor as a movie, but that's just about it.

I can never like Thor as a character or a franchise, because as a Norwegian, and having studied Åsatru (old Norse faith/paganism), I know just how much Marvel has shat all over it.

Stargate
Supernatural
The Sandman/Neil Gaiman
The Crow

..more later.

I guess I'll talk about one of my favorite Deadpool moments.

While going out on a mission, Deadpool notices his secretary Sandi trying to hide a black eye. At the end of the issue he finds out that Sandi has been hospitalized not by one of his enemies but by her boyfriend. In the next issue we find Deadpool and Taskmaster sitting along Sandi's hospital bed. Deadpool at first isn't sure what to do as Sandi is perhaps his only friend to ever get hurt and not deserve. Much to his surprise he's actually able to make her smile through his sense of humor.

As he leaves, it's easy to guess that he plans on going after Sandi's boyfriend. Snadi is aware of this and make Deadpool promise her that he won't kill him. She does however give him permission to beat the shit out of him. Deadpool finds the asshole and gives him the beating he deserves.

However as Deadpool leaves the guy in a puddle of his own blood Taskmaster arrive pointing a gun at Sandi's boyfriend and says “You know, it’s a funny thing – but I didn’t promise her squat.”

The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny

Who would put in your Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny?

Me? I want to see David Xanatos and Obberon from Gargoyles team up against Lex Luthor teamed up with Darkseid. Every Iron Man suit team up against every mega man. Oh and planeteers in there somewhere.

John Preston (Equilibrium) vs. Violet Song (ultraviolet)
I just discovered, but am not surprised to discover, that these two movies have the same director.

I missed the point of this thread.

I don’t geek over my list so I had better amend it I think *giggles*

Rider, Mav, Veroe, Ravenloft & The Spectre I do not geek over them but I adore the essence of whom they are. :rose::rose::rose::rose:

Ooh, ooh, ooh! John Preston! EQ! Something I recognise!
Loved that movie! Was involved in providing a voice for an EQ computer game...don't know if it ever turned into anything serious. And was involved in the writing of some pretty serious EQ fanfiction too.

Does...does that I mean I'm a little bit geeky?

smiles hopefully

Yes, yes it does.

:)

does a little happy dance

Oooh, am also a rather huge Doctor Who fan too...if that helps solidify/confirm my status at all ;)

You couldn't solidify it anymore if you surrounded it in cell created from an alloy of a dwarf star.

Was just reading this...wondered what people's opinions were on the subject here...what's your best tear jerker moment in your own particular area of geekdom?

For me the most memorable tear jerker moment I ever had was when I read David Weber's In Enemy Hands and when Jamie Candless died, he wasn't one of the main characters, He was one of Honor Harrington's bodyguards but the way he died and why....and the way Dave wrote that moment...honestly made me tear up.

Dave's done that to me lots of times since, and not just peripheral characters, but with the sacrfice or triumph of main ones too, but Jamie Candless was the one where I realized just how emotionally invested I was in the world of Honor Harrington and what deft writer mr Weber is when it comes to my heartstrings. Its why he's my favorite writer, all time.

Anybody else have a good memory of a story affecting them so much it makes them tear up, flat out cry?
