Man of Steel Trailer 2

So as he says in the trailer: What do you think? Are you ready for a reboot of Superman? How do you like the more realistic and dramatic tone of the movie the trailer suggests to you? Do you think this will be on par with the success of the first superman movie with Christopher Reeve or just another embarassment like Superman returns was?

I'm actually looking forward to it, Zach Snyder isn't without fault, but he's a very solid director and Christopher Nolan has been kind of godfathering this thing. The issue with other Superman movies has been making Superman relatable, and no one has been able to recapture the magic that Christopher Reeve had as Supes.

I didn't hate Superman Returns, I actually liked Brandon Routh as Superman. The whole superman has a kid subplot was awful, and their treatment of Lex Luthor was hit and miss though Kevin Spacey did a good job.

That kinda summs up my own feelings from Superman Returns. It had lots of okay, good, or great ingredients, but put together it just became lackluster somehow.

Spacey was good a Lex, I liked the actress that played Lois, and my favorite moment was when a bank robber with a huge machine gun blasts away at him and Supes just calmly casually walks to him as the bullets bounce off of him. That was superman. Then showing the perplexing ability that movie had shooting him in the eye seemed wholly unneccessary at that point.

I agree with all of the above.

Brandon Routh had the look down perfectly and he did a wonderful job, sadly the story was just bad. Mind you, I love Superman, but I really disliked the movie because there was no parts of it that held my attention.

The new one seems interesting. Henry Cavill is a good actor from what I have seen and as Rider stated Zach Snyder and Christopher Nolan are good directors (with the exception of Sucker Punch as I have yet to figure that movie out) so it should prove to be a decent, if not amazing, movie.

The thing with Sucker Punch was it was intended as a purely visual experience I think. Snyder makes good movies when he has other guys do the writing, I really enjoyed his Dawn of the Dead remake, as well as 300 and Watchmen. He just needs to be paired with a good writer to give his movies structure.

I agree, that moment as he just walks through a hailstorm of bullets without a care in the world was pretty sweet. Him stopping the falling plane was cool too, those were Superman moments. Unfortunately there was just too much pointless down time in that movie, it went on too long and even the good moments felt disjointed.

Oh and I just really felt bad for James Marsden in that whole film. I mean the three X-men films everyone ripped Jean Grey from his arms wrapped her up put a bow on her and pretty much handed her to Wolverine. So when he was done with playing Cyke and losing the girl he gets the role of Lois Lane's boyfriend so Superman can take her from him.

Talk about a guy that's unlucky in love.:(

Or maybe its just me and I identify with that situation too much. But that's getting a little too personal though...so nevermind.

Yeah, that would be unlucky, though that was also the writers being unable to handle the dynamics between Logan, Scott, and Jean. And then to just summarily kill him off less than a third of the way into the third movie, just so many mistakes.

As for Marsden, he'll have enough "love" coming up in a couple of movies.

So in conclusion, on Man of Steel: I'm taking a wait and see approach to it, but cautiously optimistic right now.

Since I think it falls into the realm of geeky things, thoughts on the upcoming Pacific Rim movie?

I guess it does, I need to see more about it before I can fully form an oppinion on it. From the one or two small bits of it I've seen I believe it will do okay but not very well in the box office, and it doesn't look like something I'd see in the theater, maybe over netflix or redbox, but not worth going to it.

Though that may change if I see more and it looks good.

the real trailer came out today, pretty sure it's on youtube and it looks pretty cool

Pacific Rim Trailer

Here it is. Looks shiny, but so did Battleship too.

It makes me think of a hollywood rip off of Neon Evangelion and other Anime similar to that.

But it does look cool.

Slips inside , holding up the mistletoe, blushing a great deal she kisses Veroe gently on his lips before quickly stepping back giggling.

I agree with Spec about the robot voice, could easily be the same voice actor.

Normally I'd be wary of the movie, but I've never seen a bad Guillermo del Toro movie. His basic idea was to do kind of a send up to the Kaiju movies. Perhaps I'm a bit misguided, but with del Toro directing I'm more apt to just be excited about it.

I agree, definitely the best :)

*kisses her again just because I can*

Makes me glad I've stopped reading Spiderman. I'm not sure how successful Doc Ock as spiderman will be. But I think killing off Peter Parker isn't the answer.

Similar to this. That was my reaction when I heard Joseph Gordon Levitt was being considered for Batman in the Justice League movie. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7GlP0NMKSo

How can you have a justice league movie without Bruce Wayne? The great thing about the Justice League and team up movies is the character interactions, and I really liked the relationship Bruce and Superman develop, the relationship between him and Wonder woman...the relationship between Bruce and the whole team. You'd sacrifice all that by making Batman JGL instead of Bruce who has a different personality than Bruce as Batman ever did, and if they did try and make his personality as close to Bruce's I'd be even more dissapointed.

Fortunately I've just heard this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJkkK9L1ZlI Which seems like the only way for it to go considering the state DC movies are in right now to me.

If they did go with JGL I assume they'd just have him play Bruce Wayne. Nolan's vision of Gotham and his Batman movies are independent of the way you'd do a Justice League movie.

That said, I don't think you could go with JGL given his ties to how DKR ended.

slips out of the thread, where she obviously doesn't belong, mistletoe hidden behind her back.

Sorry if I offended, Veroe.

( *giggles* she is not sorry at all not one bit :)..she thought mistletoe kisses were geeky! :eek:0
