My question is that I'm a larger size woman and I want to know if corset wearing helps promote weight loss? How many inches of play is in a corset? How uncomfortable are they? Are full corsets better then waist cinchers or is that a matter of preference?
I have looked at bunches of them online and really want one. I just don't know if I should wait till I reach my goal weight next year or start now.

After many months of waiting I have finally got a corset that is suitable for daily tightlacing, and I've been doing it daily for a week. I'm up to about 10 hours of the day, and I'm adding corseting to more and more of my leisure time (rather than just working hours). Right now I'm working on mental preparation for sleeping in it; I have trouble sleeping normallly so I'm trying to conquer fears that I won't be able to while corseted. Next weekend I will probably try taking a midday nap while laced and see how that goes..
I'm curious, are you a tightlacer? I keep meaning to ask you this and I never have!CorsetLvr said:Yes, daily corset wear will force you to eat smaller, more frequent meals. This is very helpful in losing weight. Imagine eatling a large meal like on Xmas. This is what its like eating even a normal sized meal in a corset. You end up snacking. If you are careful about what you snack on it will help you lose weight.
Remember that more than few pounds of weight loss or weight gain may require you to a different corset. Considering the cost of a custom corset this can get pretty expensive.

How much waist reduction are you currently seeing? Does your corsets have a busk? I don't wear mine on a daily basis, they are more for casual and party wear. I have 5 in my collection, all made by myself.
By the way, my nick comes from the fact that I used to be a corsetier, meaning I made custom corsets. I no longer do this. Where I live there isn't enough demand to make this something I would want to make a career of. I was making them on a part time basis for a couple of years while I was in grad school. I got started after seeing an episode of HBO's Real Sex that featured Romatasy. From there I purchased some patterns from a company that specialized in historical costumes.
I have helped several women that wanted to get into corsetry as a lifestyle over the years. As a matter of fact I had a several hour discussion with one a few weeks ago in the chat room here.
Have you tried sex in a corset yet? I just love it. Now I see what those folks that are into breath play get out of it. My orgasms are very intense when I am tight laced. In my case tight lace means about a 4-5 inch reduction. For me that's enough but not to the point where you get into actual waist training.
I can understand how being tight laced makes you feel connected. I have frequently described it as a form of "mobile bondage." Best wishes on this project and I will be looking forward to updates on your progress.
Etoile said:Whoops, we were posting at the same time! I am starting out with 3" in the morning and lacing down to 5" after a bit. I'm up to about 12 hours a day but haven't practiced sleeping in it yet. I haven't had sex in it yet but I've definitely thought about it and I'm looking forward to it! I find the corset to be more erotic rather than explicit...it's a beautiful thing rather than a raunchy thing to me. So I wouldn't call it a fetish in my case...more just a hobby.
Thank you so much for joining in this thread!

My sissy, H however is getting into it. He's using a vollers just to get used to wearing something, but I've told him he's got to get himself a custom trainer before xmas.
I'm really interested in the degrees of commitment. The links at www.lovesickcorrectiveapparel.com are a great read.

Genetics plays a big part of it.sosexy said:I used to do waist exercises cause i wanted a 19 inch waist. Anyway they worked. I've always had a very tiny waist though, but corsettes and exercises can all help get it down to impossible figures
I haven't mastered the doorknob thing, so I am doing the pull-to-the-sides thing. I find I have to watch in the mirror so I can see what I'm doing - I have my back to the mirror when I do this. But 5" is pretty easy for me, I am a squishy type. Mine are both underbusts, they do both have busks - the pictures in the first post are mine.CorsetLvr said:How are you tightening it yourself? That last 2" is where you would need help. In Victorian times they actually used something like a winch to tighten the laces. Does your corset have a busk? If you are already up to 5" you are doing very very well. I usually only where mine on weekends, but I do occasionally where one under a suit to work. Mine are lined so that they can be worn on bare skin. I have both cupped and under bust styles as well as a couple of waist cinchers. The cupped corsets do produce a significant amount of cleavage, even with my modest B cups. My uncinched waist is 21" and I can cinch down to 16-17" without to much of a problem, depending on which corset I am wearing. I suppose if I worked at it like you are I could probably train down another inch or two. Most of my corsets are designed as party wear. I made a matching skirt to go with them. The corset, skirt, hose and heels and I am good to go out. I will wear a jacket over it if we are going out to dinner on the way to our destination.

Etoile said:I can totally understand avoiding something like this for health reasons. I love how you said "just using a Vollers." If H is to get a custom by Xmas you should order it pronto, but if it's just that he should order it by Xmas that gives plenty of time to find a good one. house of Worship and Meschantes both make goodd training corsets, but they are for female bodies...has he found someone to make a custom male corset? (Unfortunately the differene in body shape necessitates acknowledging maleness...which isn't always fun for transwomen and sissies, but such is life.) There's a great trans photo gallery at Romantasy.com - if H hasn't seen it already, he might enjoy it.

I found the pictures of your daughter, but did you mean you had a picture of her clothing rack where she hangs the corsets? That would be fun to see! (She is quite lovely by the way.)catalina_francisco said:LOL, did you see the pics I put on here of my daughter's walk in robe full of corsets (and shoes), and then the rack as well?!! She has most of them custom made, many from the US, and some with boning or steel supports integrated into them..I am jealous!! She has a liking for those which lace up....hmmmm, genes must have something to do with this....and she is fortunate to have a waist that can lace to a very small size, emphasising the hips and breasts beautifully (think I also put some pics of her dressed in some like that). Most of her clothing is of this style, even her tops she wears when not wearing corsets, and of course very goth most of the time.

I had a fashion corset from Frederick's of Hollywood that had plastic boning, and it wasn't very good. I don't think I would get one without steel now, if only because the thought "I am shaped by steel, I cannot break free" is really a lot of fun as I'm walking around at work! It's also so much more sturdy - a lot of plastic boning is made with cable ties and they are just way too bendy IMHO.
I think I am going to go full-out and wear the dailywear (which makes a much more dramatic shape) on top of a black sweater and skirt and 3.5" velvet boots. Shopping will probably be slow but fun.
Oh, now I'm jealous too! I like Lip Service's stuff. And I love your daughter's "naughty Dorothy" ruby slippers.catalina_francisco said:Here is one pic of some of them which I put on IYM's Bedroom Thread . I envy her the ability to indulge her fetish taste so lavishly. LOL, she was pointing out to me during our last night together that most people are happy to have 1-2 garments from LipService while she has them in double figures and growing by the week. Spoilt she is!!
