Waist Training

I've run into a problem. One of the boning channels has popped up a bit from the one I've been wearing every day. I wore the longline two days this week and it was just terrible, quite painful...it really wasn't made properly I'm afraid. It wouldn't be a problem if I was just wearing it for a short period of time but it's not suited to wearing for the entire day. I tried supergluing the boning channel as a quick fix and that didn't help...it seemed okay but when I put it on it came right back up. It's just a tiny spot, I can't even put the tip of my little finger into it, but I'm worried it will get worse. The corsetiere wasn't much help unfortunately...she suggested I try putting in a few stitches but I'm not too keen on the idea! Nor do I want to wait while it gets sent back to the UK for her to fix. So I'm not sure what to do. I know what I want - something for training that isn't going to fall apart right away - but I can't really afford it right now. Ah well.
 
Try sewing a patch over the top of the hole. As you are finding out, that's the problem with only have one daily wear corset.

It's not really a hole as such, just a little gap where the channel is coming up and I can see the boning underneath. But yeah, I am crossing my fingers that Santa brings me a gift certificate or something...

What about putting aside $25 from each paycheck, and then extra money whenever you can, until you've saved up enough for the corset you *want*? You could ask your Daddy to hold onto the money for you, to ensure that you don't spend it. What I'm doing for the cuffs I want is sending in as much cash as I can whenever I can, and the woman who made them is going to mail them as soon as I've paid off in full. I think it's fantastic, because I don't have to worry about having the entire amount right at once. When I say I can't afford something, I mean I can't afford to pay for it all at once. There's a lot of difference between $50 a month and $300 in one month.

Oh, I know how to save money...there are just other things I am saving for right now! I do have $5 here and there going into a "just for me" account but I've already spent $300 on corsets this year. So I am setting aside a bit of money here and there, yes. The problem is that the corsets I want do have to be paid for all at once, and I want them sooner rather than later (as evidenced by the complaints of my current one falling apart), so saving a little at a time, while appropriate for most things, isn't going to solve my current corset issue.

Fortunately my in-laws will probably be giving me some cash for the holidays. So I will put all of that toward my corset fund, and it will probably get me a fair bit of the way there.

Yes, of course it can - there is a company (I believe in Australia) that charges something like $900 for mediocre ones (!), and there are places like Dark Garden that charge $500 for theirs. Joyce of Creations L'escarpolette in France charges $500 for hers (I think) and they are well worth it from what I have seen, she does a wonderful job. So, yes, a good corset can easily cost over $300, but what I'm looking for doesn't necessarily have to. I have my eye on Meschantes and House of Worship mostly; from the research I've done Meschantes does pretty decent quality work at a pretty good price, but their customer service is reportedly not so hot. So while I'm aware that a good one can cost that much, I also know it doesn't necessarily have to. :)
 
I have a gorgeous corset, that i 'whacked on the plastic' and made sure i paid it off.
Its a classic french long line training corset.

I love wearing it, it is everything ive always dreamed it would be. But there's no way i can lace alone surely? It takes my Dom not too long to get me into it, but i cant begin to imagine how you get into yours alone?

Mine laces at the back, does that make it impossible to do yourself. Im one of those women that cant even use curling tongs on my hair coz i get all spastic lobsterish.

Id love to waist train, but cant see my Dom obliging. So suggestions of how to self lace would be good please
 
I do waist training as well - my long term objective is for a 20 inch waist.

My natural waist is 29 inches, and I can currently it down to around 24 inches for periods of time up to 8 hours.

Where do people shop for their corsets?
My waist training corset is an underbusted edwardian, with 24 streel bones in it - and when closed will be 23 inches.

I finally bought a corset!!

Yes, I put it on the plastic, a mistake I know but I just could not resist it. I am so weak.

Its black leather with a red flame pattern running on the front panels. It has steel boning which pulls my waist in and feels very supportive.
I was shocked at how I looked but not as surprised as the sales assistant when I turned around and she saw just how big my breasts looked compared to my waist.
I would have laughed at the expression on her face but lacked the breath to do that LOL

I have looked at the sites on self lacing and have tried to achieve it, but I was not successful at all. Maybe because its a corset with a bust and not a waspie.

That means Andante will have to help me into it, its a shame as I would have like to surprise him.

I am really looking forward to showing it to him next week, I just hope he likes it.

Oh, you look really lovely in that corset. And you'll look even better when you get down to 20 inches. But I think less than that looks rather unnatural, less exciting perhaps. BTW, I'd be interested to know if most 'corseteers' (for want of a better word) do it entirely for themselves or as part of a relationship.
 
Lacing on your own isn't all that hard; you just have to get used to it. It takes me about 5-8 minutes in the morning. (down to 25" from roughly 30" since I started lacing 3 weeks ago)

Losen the laces so you can put the corset on and close the busk easily.

The laces work like a Jacob's Ladder: if you experiment with pulling each of the 4 laces you'll figure out which ones slide through the top grommets and which slide through the bottom.

Deep breath; pull in your stomach muscles; tighten; repeat. :)

I tighten the bottom laces most of the way (Jacob's Ladder style), tie off the corset in front, tighten the top laces by pulling each set from top to bottom. Then I adjust the slack at the waist and tie off again.

Then I grab my trusty belt (1½" with holes all around), do the deep breath, pullin, tighten again and cinch the belt as tightly as possible. This holds everything in placewhile I take up the slack in the laces (again).

When I'm as tight as I can get I cross the laces in back (wrapping around to the front), pull one last time and tie off.

I really *should* re-tighten 30 minutes after I lace up (I'd drop another ½ - 1"), but I'm not a morning person and I never leave myself enough time to do so. I also don't feel there is any huge rush to get down to 20"- slow and steady better IMO.

Why don't you have her put it on you before the flight. Then you can pull up your shirt in the car on the trip home and cause an dolf sized accident. :D I'm sure she'll enjoy knowing that you're being car terrorized without her there.

Is a good theory but in order to catch the flight I need to leave at 2.30am drive 1.5 hrs to the airport, then its a minimum of a two hr wait in departure before the flight takes off.

So in practice it won't work.

Never mind, will continue to try and lace it myself or Andante can do it with his eyes closed lol
