Well now, it's become clearer what happened.

Aging Trump campaign grifter Roger Stone (who dates back to NIXON) evidently had his personal email account phished. He didn't have 2FA (Two factor authentication...where they send a code to your phone) turned on.

Phishing, btw, is pretending to be a reputable company and trick someone into providing personal information, usually username and password. "Hi this is Bank of America! We detect fraudulent activity on your account! Please login HERE to continue! " and the dummy "logs in" to a fake Bank of America website.

Stone was locked out of his own personal account, which he admitted to today.

Evidently he never deleted anything either, his entire email archive was a veritable trove of political chicanery.

It is thought the phisher might have used Stone's email account to attempt to access other "independent" email accounts linked to the flailing sinking presidential campaign of the convicted felon.
