Very much are you welcome, now and tomorrow. Two world wars and a couple of police actions make for a good legacy. It works for a lot of hand sizes. These days, it's available in several calibers.
I prefer to stick with calibers which have been adopted by government entities. This makes them ubiquitous. I've said it before. Clyde Barrow was a big fan of the BAR (also designed by John Moses Browning, who designed the 1911) and he stole them from National Guard armories. Availability will become crucial in the coming Rainy Decade, which is likely closer now than we've seen before.
