Judge Rules Illinois Public Transit Firearms Carry Ban Unconstitutional

The state ‘failed to meet their burden to show an American tradition of firearm regulation at the time of the Founding,’ he wrote.

A federal judge recently ruled that Illinois’s ban on carrying guns in public transportation and in transportation facilities is unconstitutional, citing the Supreme Court’s 2022 landmark decision.

“After an exhaustive review of the parties’ filings and the historical record, as required by Supreme Court precedent, the Court finds that Defendants failed to meet their burden to show an American tradition of firearm regulation at the time of the Founding that would allow Illinois to prohibit Plaintiffs—who hold concealed-carry permits—from carrying concealed handguns for self-defense onto the CTA and Metra,” U.S. District Judge Iain D. Johnston wrote in his Aug. 30 opinion, referring to two Chicago-area transportation systems.

The judge was cited the Supreme Court’s decision, N.Y. State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen, which found a New York law unconstitutional and that the ability to carry a pistol in public was a right guaranteed under the Second Amendment. The decision also said that, in future decisions, the judiciary should evaluate firearms regulations in light of the “historical tradition of firearm regulation.”

Bad news for the Commies among us.

The State will appeal and request an immediate stay. The appellate court will grant the stay within minutes and stating that the State has a likelihood of success on the merits.

What caliber works best on werewolves???

I'm inclined to think about .45'-70 Government.

Very nice outfit... and the terminator she's holding. When I was at the gun store picking up my .38 spc. A girl came in to pick up her AR. She didn't look that good in logger outfit and nose ring. We were filling out forms together and I hit on her by asking her what the date was. I must have scored because she answered me.

Ya spelled septic incorrectly........ oh' all day yesterday and last night my guns killed no one ...... (funny how that works)?
Your kind fears us....your kind can't control us..... and as far as being a "gun nut prepper" ya might ask the unarmed Israelis that were killed in the surprise attack on October 7 or the unarmed Ukrainians as the Russians rolled over their border, about being a gun nut prepper ...... thing is slick..... while your standing in a line begging for food cold, wet and miserable this white gurl is fix'in up a pot full of soup, or hamburger casserole, biscuits next to a cheery warm wood stove.....
Enjoy your day paying off other people's debt and paying for the well-being of the illegal aliens....

Dude, I’ve got dozens of preppers who have me on speed dial who tell me that if the shit goes down just make my way to their place.

I’ve been working with some of these people since before Y2K was supposed to end the world. 🤣

You have no idea how good and how bad some of them are at it. You’d do well to hire me to assess your half-assed scene.

I thought that she’s cute. She reminds me of the fed in the first couple of seasons of Sons of Anarchy. I found a cache of women with firearms which I’ll share until it craps out.

That success will ultimately depend on the ability to cite a credible historical analogue as required by Bruen.

They don't care because they know the courts will help them by both stonewalling any decision and making stuff up out of whole cloth.

Eventually it will get the the SCOTUS who I believe will defend their decision in Bruen.

How to turn a point defense into a well supplied grave.

How to turn a point defense into a well supplied grave.

I had one guy proudly show me the generator he installed in a bunker, all proud of his exhaust piping system.

A few of potentially lethal problems:
* The exhaust would stratify in cool weather and inundate the fresh-air intake of the living area.
* The exhaust system could flood in heavy rain.
* Heat would quickly collect while the generator was running.
* The venting for his lead-acid batteries was insufficient for high states and rates of charge.

So yeah, a well supplied grave. 🇺🇸

If your position is known and survival depends on any resource connections to the outside world you are at risk. You'll need a logistical capability as well if you're forced into extended stays beyond your food storage capacity. There are cheaper ways to survive above ground when and if SHTF time arrives.

The number one way to survive is to not antagonize the neighbors, whom you're going to rely on, by calling them stupid before the SHTF.

They haven't so far and they've had like 3 or 4 chances.
The SCOTUS turned down several gun cases that come up on interlocutory appeals but some of those have been decided and sent back down to lower courts. There are dozens of gun cases pending before the lower courts as we speak. Lord knows what will happen next session. Maybe we'll see them take up an AR ban case out of the Fourth Circuit.

The landlady suggested one time that throwing a cat at a home invader's head would slow them down a good bit. That was back when her big fat orange cat was still alive. He did have the slice-n-dice model of claws.

Okay Alex, we may have gotten off to a poor start.... my apologies if so, I assumed something that may very well be incorrect.....I'll open a bit regardless of opsc.... I been a survivalist from the beginning, now its referred to as prepping... anytime you want to visit about "survivalism", I will do my dead level best to exchange thoughts, ideas, experiences and information with you ... as one "prepper to another" fair enough?....

These women have good trigger skills, kinda like Wat when he triggers the twit patrol . . . .

Virginia’s Lieutenant Governor Winsome Sears has filed the paperwork to run for governor in 2025.

According to The Hill, her paperwork was accepted Wednesday by Virginia’s Department of Elections and she is expected to make a “special announcement” in Virginia Beach on Thursday.

Sears has become the first Republican candidate in the off-year gubernatorial race, which will likely garner significant attention an off-year for U.S. elections.

However, she is likely to face a primary challenge from Attorney General Jason Miyares, who is also expected to throw his hat in the ring.
