Wax Play

Somebody in that thread also mentioned that the Shabbat candles sold in the kosher section of the grocery stores or of specialty shops are 100% paraffin. In fact, they are. I checked. I felt a bit sacreligious buying them, and the clerk probably wondered why I was smirking, but...even if not held far from the skin they're not hot enough to burn.

My SO then came home, saw the box, and asked, "What are the Shabbat candles for?" Teehee.

It figures, seriously. Oy vey.

Hmmm Was at a resteraunt today... And the thought struck me of replacing the wax with chocolate... Have to check and see what the melt temp is..

I've only done this once (in conjunction with some ice - yikes!) and it was a HORRIBLE mess to clean up - is there some secret that I missed?

what sort of mess? Shaving the area helps with hairy subs. A little lotion also help if put on first before the wax. Using underpads from Walgreens help because you can just toss them away

You know I've been playing with this idea in my head for a while as well. I'd love to try it. Every time I make candy I think about it. I need a new fondue pot tho. Oh and a volentere to pour it on me. *bats eyes*

I tried wax play for the first time ever last night-I had no idea it was coming, as I was bound and blindfolded at the time! Fabulous, though-which was surprising, as when I'd thought about it previously I'd thought I wouldn't enjoy it, and if she'd told me what she was planning I may well have said no.

VERY glad she didn't-gosh, had a simply wonderful time... [grin]

Then this morning she sort of casually dropped into the conversation, "Oh, by the way-the basic rule of wax play, never use beeswax candles. Buy cheap plain white ones, they're paraffin and they're safer."

But yes. I approve of wax play, and hope to have many more opportunities to indulge

It wasn't a hairy mess, but more of a how the heck do we get all this off of me now that it is all over me kind of mess. I absolutely loved it though and got it off in a hot shower.

Hmmm... yet another use for shabbat candles aside from my weekly use of course
