What’s the best lube?

I’ll chime in and also say that of all the stuff I’ve tried, and I’ve tried a ton of different lives/oils, coconut oil wins out in the end.

In addition to just being a good, natural lubricant, it also actually tastes good, so you can transition directly from an oily handjob straight into a blowjob, for example.

I also find that unlike industrial lubricants, which feel sticky and artificial, my skin actually feels GREAT after getting coated in a layer or two of coconut oil.

Depends upon what you are applying it to. Pre-cum and a little saliva work very well for me when using solo toys such as a Tenga product or a Zolo Sleeve.

I am currently using a zolo sleeve that long since has lost it's cylinder packaging. Just pre-cum and a little saliva. As I edge, I stop and squirt some cum and that makes it better.

Coconut oil is NOT safe for use with a condom. (At least, not with latex, which is the most common kind of condom.) Same goes for salad oil. Oils can weaken the latex and cause the condom to fail.

It's also not clear whether coconut oil is safe for internal use. It's claimed to be an antibacterial, which might sound like a good thing, but a healthy vagina is an ecosystem of symbiotic bacteria which prevent it from being colonised by unwelcome visitors. If you kill them off with antibacterials, you can end up with unpleasant stuff like yeast infections. (If you've ever had thrush after a course of antibiotics, that's why.)

Read and heed, y'all.

Read and heed, y'all.

It's pointless. "Coconut oil smells and tasts better, so I will go with it. Plus my friends use it and they are ok."

I don't believe that one single person that recommended coconut oil in this thread never heard about why it should not be used. And still here we are.

Or...you haven't read the whole thread.

Or...you haven't read the whole thread.

The "whole thread" includes one person claiming it was condom-friendly and several others recommending it without any acknowledgement of the danger of condom breakage.

You've since clarified that you're in a situation where pregnancy prevention and STI prevention aren't likely to be a concern, so that risk may not matter to you. But this thread started as "what's the best lube?" without your personal situation. In that context, it's a terrible idea to recommend something known to cause condom breakage. (This applies to all the oil-based options people have been mentioning, not just coconut.)

Well Bramblethorn...I was flippant to AnnieLit due to their flippant response. In answering your holier than thou response; I had shared our "personal situation" and "clarified it" so others reading this thread might know there may be other "alternatives" to use other than any one lubricant. As far as one person recommending it? It apparently worked for them

As to the thread starting as "what's the best lube?" Starting without the "context of my personal situation"...why post the thread if it wasn't searching for personal experiences? As with any product used today for anything it is best to research any and all information prior to someone using it. What works for one may be dangerous to others and vice versa.

I know a guy who used to drive at 150 km/h at night with his lights off. I know of a guy who used to do solo cave dives at 100m breathing plain air. It "worked for them", in that both those guys got away with it, but that doesn't mean anybody should be recommending it.

Telling people that coconut oil is "safe for use with condoms" is terrible, irresponsible advice. If calling that out makes me "holier than thou", so be it. I'm not here to trash other posters but I'm not going to stand by for bad advice that can lead to accidental pregnancy and serious infections.

I don't get this logic either. Even if condoms are not an issue, why would anybody ignore information, that the thing CAN mess up with vaginal flora and couse infection? It is not like there aren't any alternatives.

AstroGlide for vaginal. Elbow Grease for anal. Advised by the pro's at The Pleasure Chest in Santa Monica California.

Annie,

Who said cocoanut oil is safe with condoms? I don't think I did. My wife and I have used it for years without any issues. But, we don't use condoms. At our age they just aren't necessary. You seem a bit hostile about the use of cocoanut oil as a lubricant; experience or internet?

Last try: coconut oil is antibacterial, it CAN mess up the vaginal microflora, which leads to yeast infection. Will it do that to each and every woman? No. But riding a motorcycle without a helmet also will be OK for the most part. Untill it is not.

It is an absolutely unnesesery and easily avoidable health risk. Women's health risk, not men's. That is all I am trying to say, but for whatever reason you are not hearing a word of it.

I am not hostile to the use of the coconut oil, I am hostile to the ignorance.

And? You finally found an article that explains the same thing that I just told you? Good for you.

Very snippy, in your face parting comment. But, before you continue gloating and knocking Coconut oil as a lubricant due to it’s anti-bacterial properties, you should educate yourself on the ingredients used to manufacture Astroglide.

Atroglide is much more toxic than Coconut oil.

Astroglide

Ingredients:
Purified Water, Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Polyquaternium 15, Methylparaben, Propylparaben.

Purified Water -

Glyderin -

Propylene glycol
Propylene glycol rarely causes toxic effects, and then only under very unusual circumstances.

Quaternium-15
The chemical contains strong antibacterial properties and acts as a disinfectant and formaldehyde-releasing agent.
The highly carcinogenic compound is known to target the brain and the central nervous system. A material safety data sheet released by Spectrum Chemical reveals that prolonged or repeated ingestion may lead to serious behavioral issues….
… wet skin is more susceptible to the compound’s damaging effects.

Methylparaben
… This compound has been found intact within breast cancer tissues. Some researchers suggest that methylparaben may increase risk of breast cancer, or accelerate the growth of these tumors.
… fungicide and anti-bacterial agent …

Propylparaben
Although parabens (the group of chemicals in which propylparaben belongs) are generally considered safe when used in low percentages (.04% - .08%), many studies have found a link between parabens and breast cancer.

In a 2004 study published by the Journal of Applied Toxicology, 18 of 20 malignant breast tumors showed high concentrations of parabens, which are known to mimic estrogen in the body and affect the growth of breast tissue.

Best stuff I have found was some Chinese lube from Wish.com. It is a little hard to find now but it is still there. The only English on it is what I presume to be a name, "YaRun". Unfortunately, you can't look for it by that. :(

It is so damn slippery I usually just have to set the tube on it's bottom because I can't get a good enough grip to screw the cap back on.

The last time I snuck up on the old lady in the bathroom, I slapped a small dab on the end of my cock and slid right up inside her. I had some on the end of my thumb and my thumb was up her ass to the second knuckle before she could give out her normal, "Not up my ass," comment. Partway through, I swapped my thumb for my cock, which never happens without half a liter of wine lubricating her inhibitions and she didn't complain, she just moaned louder and kept on cumming.

If it can do that, it is a miracle lube.

Well, now I'm sad ... we only discovered coconut oil recently and it seemed perfect - not too 'oily', kind of dissipates nicely afterwards, doesn't taste or smell gross. Admittedly, we don't use condoms, so that's not an issue, but I did not know about the antibacterial thing, and I am prone to the sort of issues that would cause.
