What Are You Listening To Now v8.0

Last Friday I was sitting in at the local watering hole and kicked off my version of Lowell George's (Little Feat's) Willin', which is the only song of theirs that I've ever actively liked, and I happen to like it enough to learn it and embarrass myself by playing and singing it in front of strangers. During a break, a spectator, who happens to be a friend, told me how much he liked Little Feat, and Lowell George's solo album. I had no idea.

I just listened to that solo album again, and am now listening to a random play of Little Feat's "Top Songs" on Apple Music. I'm still not sure I actively like much of their stuff (beyond Willin' of course, which I like so much that I've made a playlist of my favorite covers. I keep finding more), but I'm enjoying it enough to keep on keepin' it on even when songs repeat. Currently listening to a live version of "Spanish Moon" with a live version of Willin' coming next. Life could be worse.

Here's a live version of one of those covers:

I'll be seeing the Distant Worlds: music from FINAL FANTASY tour in January. Really excited. Helped me remember that the various Final Fantasy soundtracks are great for writing to, especially this piece:

Most of the OSTs for 8, 9 and 13 are brilliant focus music for me, but "Blinded by Light (Battle Theme)" is the best of the bunch.

Blues-ette - Curtis Fuller's Quintet featuring Benny Golson

Not sure what that hourlong Track 3 is ... it's not on my CD.

Edit: Jeez, I just listened to the first few seconds of that unrecognized Track 3; it's an hourlong infomercial advocating cryptocurrency "investing". Time to warm up the Youtube "ban that video" protocol; it is totally inappropriate in a completely unrelated playlist.

Just here to say that I did actually search to see if there was already a music thread before starting mine. Apparently I didn't think to search for "listening" instead of "music", "song", etc., my bad.

Not gonna stop mine, cause I'm having too much fun coming up with daily songs. Just wanted to clarify that I didn't intrude on your shtick on purpose.

Oh and right now I'm listening to:

I woke up this morning with this stuck in my head. Now it’s transformed itself into a fucking plot bunny about a man drowning in sorrow after the death of his wife.

I come across this song every once in a while, when I need to hear the poignant message. She has a fantastic voice and does a wonderful job of bringing emotions to the song.

From "Nirvana in Fire," a Chinese historical drama set in the 6th Century, where the Southern Liang is at war with Northern Wei.

"Faded Beauty" (alternatively "Aging Beauty" is one of the songs from the soundtrack. "When the Wind Blows (风起时)" is the main theme song of the drama, with "Faded Beauty (红颜旧)" and "Loyal Blood Forever Runs Red (赤血长殷)" acting as insert songs.

"Faded Beauty (红颜旧)"

"When the Wind Blows (风起时)"

"Loyal Blood Forever Runs Red (赤血长殷)"

Southern Qi becomes Southern Liang. Lots of drama here - Chinese history is long and involved (and very well documented LOL)
