What Are You Listening To Now v8.0

Nobody sings like Chris any more.
It's not just his singing. The last song I wrote, I wrote with his instruction in mind: chorus first. He was alive then. Before that, I wrote lyrics once the melody and chord sequence crystallized. The chorus followed. Chris was a brilliant songwriter.

Right now, I'm listening to Simple Minds, past that one record where they were huge because of that one song they didn't want but went multi-platinum because of that one film. Mostly Street Fighting Years, but also some Real Life.

Bless you, Lou Reed, for that cameo.

Honestly, the last five songs from Street Fighting Years remain life-altering for me. Here's the whole album:

And a distinctive one. I've been a little bit obsessed with The Pretty Reckless' "Only Love Can Save Me Now", written in the wake of his death and recorded in collaboration with surviving members of Soundgarden. It's so heavily influenced by his style that I can hear just how his voice would've fit into that song; even though he's not there I experience it like a duet.

And with English subs....

Mika Nakashima - Yuki No Hana (Snowflower)

It's Nostalgia Night LOL

I've actually never really listened to Perry Como before - vaguely knew the name - I can see why he was popular

Yao Si Ting (Diana Yao) - she's pretty much unknown outside of China and Hong Kong but she was really popular - there's almost no video clips of her singing which is such a shame

I've listened to this song about as much as all other music combined this weekend. It's so gorgeously dark. I doubt anyone here will like it, but damn it, this band is amazing and their lyrics are SO good.
