What does targeted, sweep-evading, story vandalism look like?

It isn't the use of AI tools such as Grammarly that is the issue. It is how they are used.

Using them to identify a mistake is perfectly fine. Using them to correct a mistake is not fine.

Manually acting upon the identified mistakes is what typically passes. No guarantees on anything else.
Yes, exactly. I agree with you 100%. Apparently, I didn't make that plain while you did. Thanks. I use Grammarly all the time to identify mistakes. I accept the corrections for the ones I think need it, but ignore the ones that would change my voice.

I remember my father's advice when we went into the wilds of the Rockies of Colorado. Let sleeping bears lie and don't poke them.

EDIT: This wasn't a mistaken in post in the wrong thread. It was an intentional post, and probably poked one of the bears when I posted it.

Why can't this topic (the scoring system) just be discussed here without the thread being derailed by dozens of people attacking the OP and insisting that this is not worth talking about?

If nobody wants to talk about it, then why not just let the thread die and be done? Why keep it at the top of the forum for days, complaining that it should not exist?

Why are people so darn defensive about this site? I don't get it. It's a great site. I'm a big fan. But it has flaws. I don't understand why you (all/people) can't just allow a thread about something obviously wrong with the site to exist. You can simply not participate if the topic is boring to you.

Instead, some of the people who are complaining about this thread, are also posting over and over. I don't get it.

Aww shucks guys, I checked my scores again. I done lost 4 of my red H's from 1-stars. Someone here is a digital terrorist. I might quit publishing because I deserve red H's and if I don't get what I'm entitled too I will leave...

But not leave, of course.

But I'll darn sure say I will, best believe that.

You have to understand that the subject is irrelevant. It’s the attacks themselves that people get a raging erection over.

They don’t care about the subject. It’s just an excuse to get an endorphin rush. Don’t believe me? Just read some other threads and you’ll see the same thing repeated over and over again in lots of different circumstances. They don’t hide their true motivations whatsoever.

Sadly we have normalized demonizing ‘the other’ to the degree that some people can do little else.

As I say, I’d rather that people took out their anger harmlessly on me than it spilled into their real lives. So it’s really no big deal to me. As a wise person once said to me here, “Monsters are gonna monster” 🤷‍♀️.

Because this is the best and largest and most active literary community in the world of erotica. Hell, maybe even literary community in general. As a new author, I would love for this place to be helpful, friendly, and welcoming. Instead, it's toxic. That's bad.

With all due respect, AND I MEAN ALL DUE RESPECT, I think trying to tone police on the internet to combat toxicity is about as effective as punching the air to combat the wind.

The place is not toxic. The majority of people here are lovely. There is a tiny - but very vocal - element who merit that description. The problem is that the majority do nothing to stop them from behaving badly.

I realize I’m a naive optimist when talking about internet communities self-policing. But, absent any actual site moderation, the alternative is what you see. And it ain’t pretty.

What we have here is a self-fuelling fire, where people don't know when to stop. It really is that simple.

Hey... I think... Didn't someone say something like this in the past?

I thought coming to the AH would make me publish more, but it turns out, it's making me publish less.

I don't know... I suppose my memory isn't as long as I thought it was...

What we have here is a self-fuelling fire, where people don't know when to stop. It really is that simple.

Gotta get that dopamine™ hit!

What we have - I think - is a problem where some people spend time in [non-Literotica] social media bubbles in which they see nothing but ‘the enemy’ being attacked (this isn’t even a political point, it applies at both extremes of the political spectrum). And they join in. And it’s kinda fun. And then other members of the bubble cheer them on. And they start to feel like Internet Gods.

Inevitably, the same behaviors begin to be reflected elsewhere. As a race, we have normalized hate. It’s just what people do nowadays.

It’s not a feeling. It’s hard data. And it’s not just me. Though - unsurprisingly given the behavior on this thread - few want to talk about it in public. I don’t think anyone’s interests are served by taking an ostrich-like approach to the problem. But YMMV.

It isn't hard data, no matter how much you insist it is.

Seeing we now have a "The AH is a place to discuss the craft of writing" thread because of this, I'll ask

What does this thread have to do with actual writing?

First, it isn't about attacking the OP.
One of the problems our society is facing is the idea that any disagreement is an attack or worse the childish way people toss around words like "hate".
OP made a statement. Other people disagreed with that statement. As @Comshaw pointed out already, the OP actually launched the first attack.

But at the core of it, many of us dispute the underlying premise the OP is advancing.
There is no evidence that this is a systemic, wide spread problem.
There is no evidence that it is spreading.
There is no evidence that it is driving talented authors away from the site.

It isn't about defending the site, but correcting falsehoods and half truths.
Many of us would rather not have a new author come to this forum and see all this nonsense go unchallenged, and thus assume it must be truth.
If OP was posting anti-semitic conspiracy theories would you recommend the best course of action be to ignore it, or speak put against it?

Speaking only for myself, several members came to my defense when a former member made vailed racist comments about me. Engergetic Monkey, Pet black-faced rat (which immediately became pet rat), and other offensive terms. I do remember being scolded by the moderator for taking the bait and responding in kind in my defense.
