You example is predicated on the OP asking an actual question. The OP did not do that.
The OP provided a picture. The OP claimed without evidence that it was an accurate representation of the votes their story had received.

The OP made claims based on that picture.
The OP did not ask for help.
The OP was, as usual, attempting to advance an agenda.

Aside from the obvious numeric SNAFU in the image, the really amusing thing is it is an example of flawed logic (lots of that around here) and has absolutely nothing to do with the concept of correlation whatsoever. But hey, opinions matter, right?

It’s not a feeling. It’s hard data. And it’s not just me. Though - unsurprisingly given the behavior on this thread - few want to talk about it in public. I don’t think anyone’s interests are served by taking an ostrich-like approach to the problem. But YMMV.

I've definitely noticed sudden drops. I don't pay enough attention to my votes to be able to see any real patterns. I'm sure there are a lot of people who one-bomb. I just wish you'd write again Honestly, I think one of the better fixes would be fixing the entire rating system. 4.5 is the magic one we all want to be above, which means that anything less than a perfect 5 feels like hurting the author to some.

Other than contests, is it really that bad for you? I feel like you're popular enough that you'd get enough genuine votes that a handful of ones wouldn't make much difference.

A handful of ones wouldn’t. 12 - 20% of the votes on all seven of my latest stories being 1️ isn’t a handful (the percentage is probably greater than even that today, as they are only getting 1️ votes now as they are all old). It’s systematic abuse. More today, with no new views.

Aside from the obvious signature of human intervention I demonstrated, a story getting no new views and only 1️ votes is entirely suspect.

This is the difference it makes:

Well, since most of the comments are your responses, or comments from AH people... I'd say it isn't as instructive as you think.
The really low percent of favorites to views is pretty telling though.

Ratings are one reason. Not the only one. The AI problem is another. And there are other reasons.

Yet, daily submissions aren't down. Still tons and tons of writers. Yes, I agree that the site does not treat its contributors all that well, but in the end we get to post our stories for free to a massive audience. It's still a pretty good deal.

Absolutely we can talk about the issue. Quite honestly I totally disagree with anyone who says, "well the site won't do anything about it so we should stop talking about it." That's a bullshit attitude.

However, this thread (and your others) IS about your feelings as much as anything else, because everything that you do is a big drama show for attention. The point made here is that you have already publicly and pompously declared your intention to never publish here again, yet you hang around and moan about a site that you won't publish to ever again, unless ... you actually have plans to publish here again but need the admin to bend to your will because it's all about you, or ... your experiences elsewhere show you that this is still the best place to post, meaning that your public walkout was a mistake, so you'll have egg on your face if you do post here again unless the admin bends to your will.

This is totally about you and your feelings.
