What does targeted, sweep-evading, story vandalism look like?

True, and those authors often just stop writing her but leave their content up instead of deleting it. So they still count as "active" Literotica members and writers even if they haven't published here for years.

People have always left, and their reasons are their own. There is no proof that they are leaving at an increased rate or that the scoring system is the reason why.

There's something wrong with a system where the trolls can just troll away and 1-vote everything, but we can't do diddly about it.

Lots of emotion on this thread. I’m sticking to data. People can draw their own conclusions from that.

We have placed our faith in the mystic sweeps for too long. And yet I still see people referring to them in ways that demonstrate no comprehension of what they do, let alone how they do it.

You still haven't explained how you distinguish between the malicious/vandalistic 1-stars and the reasonable/legit 1-stars after sweeps...

Without the distinction, you have *no way of knowing if the 1-stars you currently have post-sweeps are the malicious/vandalistic ones or the reasonable/legit ones.

I won’t argue this, hence my claim is that established authors are aware and have a choice. But you must accept that there are authors who no longer submit stories here. And there are plenty of threads and discussion about alternative sites. And plenty of threads like this one. You cannot deny their existence.

Certainly, there is no but to it. Those writers have reached a point where they care about a score more than they care about telling a story. All writers have this same choice, established or not, no difference.

I’d draw your attention to the pairs of 1⭐️ votes in red ellipses.

Don't get too offended. There are some people who think that a 1 vote is better than a 5 vote.

You're #1, right? That's seriously what some people think. I see this in my job all the time when people are asked to rank the quality of my work. My then-new CIO in 2022 gave me a fucking 1 out of 5 on my annual review and he seriously thought this was a good thing so I know that of which I speak.

Don't let it bother you. ;)

You ignore the correlation between scores and reader interaction. If you seek reader feedback (and do not care about scores) you get less because your score is being cut down.

Why do they sweep 5s?

Or they're tired of the hassles of AI claims, trolls, and other things and they've migrated to places where they can tell a story to an audience without all the BS.

Just look at this thread. There are more people saying "get over it" then there are bemoaning the "crisis". That should tell you something.
I strongly doubt AH is representative of the LE authors at all. This is a really toxic forum, where a handful of users mob anyone who has ideas that deviate from theirs. I imagine most authors try to post here once or twice and never do so again. I only stay around because I "suffer" from mild Asperger's and so I'm not able to emotionally register the hostility.

Don't you know, we have the greatest writers in the world here, just ask them. NO one vote could possibly be legit.

Fair point but you still get to tell stories here for free to the widest audience possible no matter what your scores are. You won't find a bigger audience anywhere else, and no other site is even close to troll free anyways.

no, not really. You implied that they stopped just telling the story and started chasing numbers (or the AI detector.) But when you tell your story and you get AI rejections or other barriers, the temptation exists to just go write somewhere else and just tell the story without hassles.

Oh, I 100% agree with you.
You have a handful of people constantly bemoaning how terrible, horrible, no good very bad, Lit is in the AH. Meanwhile, authors are writing stories and posting them, readers are reading them, and life goes on. If it was as terrible as they say, they'd leave. Instead they crave the attention and create drama.
The AH is a meaningless bubble in the grand scheme of Lit.

Don't mix AI rejections with low scores. Those are two completely separate things. The claim was made that writers are quitting due to discouragement from score trolls. AI rejection has nothing to do with that.

But that other hassle free place doesn't exist. Notice that the loudest complainers around here never actually leave. That ought to tell you something.

Another victimhood thread from someone who says they're done writing here but keeps talking about how awful it is.

Its nothing that most other people here haven't gone through. Its not right, it sucks, but most of us get over it and move on.

120+ posts in a day because bitching is what brings everyone together in a way a real discussion about writing rarely does.

Personally I’d be fine if they turned off ratings. But while they exist they need to be at least reasonably fair. They aren’t. And they are getting worse.
You can turn off voting on your own stories, but to suggest a global turning off of the system? No way.

I'm willing to accept your pattern is malicious, because fucktards undoubtedly exist, but that doesn't mean it's universal. I get one-bombs, sure, but not all the time, and never, that I can see, in pairs. I suspect being in a different time-zone gives me a layer of protection from the daft and stupid, and for me it's all part of the furniture.

I can also see the Top List 4.84 effect, but Top Lists are age biased regardless and have always been pointless. The fact that the 4.84/100 threshold is so obvious suggests to me, not malice, but some deliberate action on the site, for some reason or other that I've not bothered figuring out because it doesn't matter.

But to me, taking your ball and going home because of something that affects just about everyone is a bit silly, particularly since you can turn voting off, problem solved.

It's happened to me.

Shrug.
Its happened to just about all of us. I can't say its not personal because over time we all gain personal trolls, but for the most part these types just live to bomb people because they're miserable and pathetic and want us to be miserable with them.
