What feeds your soul?

watching the snow blanket everything outside and letting the sounds be muted. It's very magical and peaceful.

WFMS

I surprised my grandson at daycare with lunch today... (his favorite nuggets & fries)
I heard him before I saw him....GiGi!
(Granny was shortened one day when he was in a hurry to get my attention)

He ran to me & wrapped his whole self around my legs.
When he finally looked up at me, I have no words to tell you what I felt!

I'm with you there Den. :rose:

WFMS...

* Those friendships Den mentions. Talking about the most serious thoughts and feelings and then launching into the craziest talk of monkey rockers, cucumbers and diced tomatoes.

* Letting out some thoughts... they might not be gone forever but I know now they can be banished.

* Understanding from the soul.

May I butt in here? :)
Thanks for the laugh Cate...
BobsGirl...Cookies needed here PLEASE! (in dire need of Chocolate ones!) :)

Chocolate cookies are always mandatory. My daughter's favorite kind is chocolate-chocolate chip-peanut butter chip cookies.

WFMS...

Dear friends who take the time to listen, to soothe, maybe even to smack me upside the head. I'm thinking you probably wished you had a sledgehammer. :rose:

Staying in bed til noon with a good book.

Laughter

Feisty!! You could never butt in if you tried. I have pursuaded BG to send me cookies, however I cannot blame her when my blood sugar tests come out badly. What she doesn't know is I can --- well I'll keep that to myself until I get and consume said cookies.

It's nice to see you Feisty. :rose:

Have you tried combination chocolate chip/butterscotch chip toll house type cookies? My favorite so far. (I'm willing to sample though)
Oh yummm - good work Scaly, keep those great ideas coming, to BG of course... I don't eat such things. (I almost spewed on my own words.) ;)

A woman just let me go ahead of her at the store. Simple, but I was having a bad day and decided to tell her so and that this little act really made a difference as I was finishing up the transaction. It's not something I normally do, but I just felt compelled to tell her a little kindness went a long way. Her face positively lit up, and she said sharing that made her day. Kinda neat how that works.

It's amazing isn't it?

I have a similar story in reverse if you will. I was in Phoenix wrapping up business and headed to the airport. I had not had lunch yet and had 3-4 hours to kill so I thought I would head over to a nice steak place and have a liesurely relaxing lunch with a good book I was reading. I pulled into the parking lot and as I was walking up to the door, noticed a woman that was walking up behind me. So I slowed my walk to time it such that I got to the door just before she came up behind me though she did not notice that I had seen her. I opened the door and stepped aside holding it for her. She had a surprised look on her face, smiled and said very pointedly, "Well thank you very much." I looked he straight in the face, smiled and said "You are very welcome" and followed her in.

It was lunch time so there was a bit of a waiting list. As she aproached the hostess stand, the hostess asumed we were together as asked if we needed a table for two. The woman in front of me explained we were not together but that the hostess should put me on the list first since I was technically there before she was even though she walked up first since I had held the door open for her. I smiled and explained no, that was ok, she could go ahead first. I was in no hurry and she could be seated before me. The hostess looked stunned. Then the woman turned to me, lokked me dead in the eye and said "That is a fantastic attitude you have. You are not only polite but genuine. I should have lunch with you instead of that ass I'm supposed to meet for lunch!"

To say I was stunned would be an understatement. I was not trying to make any statement. Rather it was a very natural thing for me to do and offer. I was surprised by her comments and started blushing big time. Once I was finally seated, both the hostess and another waiter (not mine) came by my table to say how much they enjoyed seeing that exchange at the front door. It was a natural thing for me, but it still makes me smile to remember how such a small gesture can make another person's day. And in return, she made mine...

Those moments feed my soul...

Having friends.

This is for you, BG:

Looks like there's one to share, too. :)

You're a pal, Yank. Thank you. :rose:

A wonderful ending to a monumentally annoying day.

Thanks for sharing this. I don't have a good example offhand, but I have found that it helps me thru a down day (and there are too many of these) if I am able to help someone else. I wish I was better at it.

Tomorrow is MrB's and my 28th anniversary. Even though I highly doubt he will ever see this, I'd like to say,

MrB, honey, I love you. We've been through a lot together, you and I, and I can't remember a time when you weren't my friend, companion, cheerleader and lover. For better or worse, it's you and me, kid.

Well BG find yourself a big red bow...wrap it around yourself...cuddle up to Mr. B while he's watching whatever on TV, give him a big kiss and tell him this.

Congrats hon...28 years is certainly an accomplishment.
