What feeds your soul?

This poem:

After A While

by Veronica A. Shoffstall

After a while you learn
the subtle difference between
holding a hand and chaining a soul
and you learn
that love doesn't mean leaning
and company doesn't always mean security.
And you begin to learn
that kisses aren't contracts
and presents aren't promises
and you begin to accept your defeats
with your head up and your eyes ahead
with the grace of woman, not the grief of a child
and you learn
to build all your roads on today
because tomorrow's ground is
too uncertain for plans
and futures have a way of falling down
in mid-flight.
After a while you learn
that even sunshine burns
if you get too much
so you plant your own garden
and decorate your own soul
instead of waiting for someone
to bring you flowers.
And you learn that you really can endure
you really are strong
you really do have worth
and you learn
and you learn
with every goodbye, you learn...

That's a wonderful poem, KokopelliRises, and it's smart too.

WFMS...

* Hearing a little person's voice float on the soft breeze today. The doors and windows are open making that happen ~ two very good things.

* Sharing tough stuff with a friend, even at four o'clock in the morning.

* Mindfulness. The most powerful behavior I know for a good life.

Being that friend and working through the tough stuff together.

WFMS:

A hectic but rewarding work week.

Not having to do anything this weekend.

Friends.

Honesty and sharing... :D

My nephews, especially when they smile at me.

A quiet sunny Sunday afternoon, curled up with the cat, a good book, and the Red Sox winning in the background.

A really good storm on my beach.

The bike ride where it felt like I was flying.

Love.

You know I thought of this after I logged off and realised I would probably be in the shit from someone (right on both counts) and decided to come back and fix my post after tweaking my internet settings. Seems I tweaked myself offline for a day or so over something so not technical I'm not even going to mention it except to say doh   .

What I meant to say was the... well we don't really have any slang for Canadians over here, we must like them or something ;) nor the Dutch either that I can recall, still at least I can include any Poms and Kiwis in this list.
