I have discovered something new. One always finds people with like minds in the most unusual places. If it weren't for Lit, sometimes i would be convinced that i am the only multi-ethnic chick with issues in the entire world.

(Just felt i had to put that in here today)

Oh, pick me! Please, please, pick me!!

Lesson #8 There are cliques at Lit. Some can deny it all they want to but they are here and will always be here. Anytime a group of people assemble... even online... they tend to look for, approach and befriend those of like-mind. It's human nature, conscious or not.

Some people have a strong desire to belong to one clique or another. Some people don't want to belong anywhere. And there are psychological reasons for all these human dynamics.

Clique has become a word with some unpleasant connotations. It's been well earned in many cases, by the negative behavior of some clique members. "Piling-on" type of attacks and exclusivity in it's membership are two of the behaviors that have given it a bad name.

Personally, I don't see the cliquishness at the bdsm forum that I have seen at others. I think that is a reflection of the over-all open-mindedness of most who post here.

I know you are speaking tongue-in-cheek but I want to address this, anyway.

For me, there is a great deal of freedom in not "belonging." Cliques, by nature, are restrictive. I like having a huge circle of friends, with a great deal of variety in their thinking. I'm selfish that way... it broadens my horizons to have a variety of friends.

My ladies Des and Rose you are right Des, also I'm too old to worry or care I have the freedom to be whom I wish now anyway

Uh oh, I've been thinking ... (it'll get you in trouble everytime)

Batter up?

And in an attempt to stay with the music of the thread, i've learned that us "freaks" tend towards a little more balanced emotional state than what i've seen on the rest of this board.

While I understand that there are indeed cliques here among us, I also understand that many people see us as one great big clique. So, in a sense, we're all in a clique, whether we care about it or not. BC, I'm also too old to worry or care. LOL

AA, I agree. Most of the time, we do seem to be pretty balanced in comparison.

First, I have to say, my observation from this morning, was probably a bit off base.

Thank you for pointing that out to me Des and Catalina and anyone else who may have done so.

Second, well, I know there must have been a second point, but can't remember what it was.

;)

And hey, if they're the right sort of friends, who knows what else might be "broadened" ;)

DANGER implies at least some hope of a survivable outcome.

What you put together constitutes suicide.

The Bash is the largest, longest running leather-fest in Florida, one of the best in the southeast, if not the whole country
I help run the show :D
Info here: www.orlandomunch.com

Deborah Addington was one of the presenters this year & hopefully will be back next :D

Lesson #7 There is a lot of passive/aggressive behavior at Lit. Someone asked me one time to define p/a behavior and my response was that it's hard to define but you know it when you see it. ;-)

I see much more of it on the GB than I see at BDSM. (I never go to the Playground, so I can't speak to that.)

Okay, I was wrong. There are passive/aggressive posters at bdsm.

But thankfully, they are few.
