What made you say "fuck, I'm old" today?

Plus I haven't worked in an inpatient setting since residency
I won't be for too much longer. I will really miss a lot of it...decades of saving lives. Haven't really figured out how I will feel about stepping away from the bedside.

If you're ER you'll probably feel a hell of a lot better about not having to deal with admin or private equity anymore

Yeah, ED, ICU, STAT team...I love my colleagues, I love the job, I even love most of my patients...but the corporation is fucking evil. It's bad enough anywhere in US healthcare, but this outfit is beyond the pale.

There's a reason I'm on job #3 in 11 years. This system seems to actually give a crap about us and keeps trying to find ways to decrease our inbox burden, non-patient-facing work, etc. It's rather nice

See, I have come to embrace being an older guy, and I wouldn't trade my mature brain for anything. But now and then we have to remind the whipper-snappers of their place in the hierarchy.

What comes to mind as a suggested reply to this kind of insolence might be something like, "Grandma?!? Kid, I could snap your dick right off!"

See that's a good idea. I just called his grandma and told her. Hes gonna get a talking to on Christmas. Perks of a small town
 
My mum looking at family photos on her iPad & unknowingly posting several of them on social media, which I thankfully spotted & was able to delete. It’s a sign we are both much older than previous Christmas Eves, in many ways

I think that young man got some real life education for his christmas present, and could be taught things school definitely 'aint gonna teach him.
 
Attempting to play basketball with a group of 10 year old girls……in all fairness, it’s the one sport I never played growing up.
