It's L's birthday today, making this 15 birthdays I have spent with him. I love watching his changes over the years. I have always loved him but I am so fond of the man he is now. Same bravado and zany-ness, now with added helpings of humility and gratitude.
Happy birthday, L! You need no gifts from us; you have Keroin. :)

The feedback is starting to come in from trusted friends who have read portions of the book and so far it's all very positive. Now I'm off to start my pre-launch publicity tour. :)

Awesomesauce and radgravy!

Thank you both. It's gratifying to know that I have made friends over the last few years who would be willing to read something carefully and then write out detailed responses that are candid and useful. It's also gratifying when someone says, as I heard this noon, "I love it. It's such a brilliant idea." The smiles come pretty easily after that. I think I might just treat myself to an extra shot of gin in my gin and tonic tonight. :D

Not at all surprised, sir.... except, perhaps, that it took so long to happen. ;)

A dear friend, who I met in treatment, was able to spend a week at a cottage up north with her family. After a hard struggle it's so wonderful that she and her loved ones were able, for one week, to just be together.

A big thank you to Cottage Dreams. http://www.cottagedreams.ca

A flat-chested young lady went to Dr. Smith for advice about breast enlargements. He told her, "Every day when you get out of the shower, rub the top of your nipples and say, 'Scooby dooby dooby, I want bigger boobies.' " She did this every day faithfully. After several months, it worked! She grew great boobs! One morning she was running late, and in her rush to leave for work, she realized she had forgotten her morning ritual. At this point she loved her boobs and didn't want to lose them, so she got up in the middle of the bus and said, "Scooby dooby dooby, I want bigger boobies." A guy sitting nearby asked her, "Did you go to Dr. Smith by any chance?" "Why yes, I did. How did you know?" The man said, "Hickory dickory dock..."

ha ha

Nice BonBon. That put a smile on my face

... and do I need to be in the shower when I say, Hickory dickory dock...? :)

Having to explain to my 12 year old daughter, who was in tears because her best (male) friend had blocked her on a social networking site, that when your best (male) friend tells you that he loves you and you reply 'ok, whatever', it could possibly be enough of a disappointment for him to not want to talk to you for a while...

Bought a six foot skeleton with poseable joints for daughter this morning, and she has named him Alan. The kids are currently arranging Alan into a suitably relaxed pose in the armchair facing the door that husband will walk through when he returns from work. Husband is unaware of the introduction of Alan into the family unit, and there are 3 of us (4 if we include Alan) who cannot wait to see his face when he arrives home...

That was priceless :D Haven't laughed so hard in ages.

Alan joined us at the table for dinner (he looks like he's short of a good meal) and a debate ensued as to what he should do this evening. We considered seating him in one of the cars and parking it on the road or posing him in the window facing the drive giving a cheery wave to passers by. But as he seems comfortable watching TV in the den wearing a hat and glasses, we'll probably leave him there for the time being...
