After a long, sad illness, my Dad died.
What made me smile is the outpouring of love and support I (along with my family) have received.
I’m truly humbled.
My friends I chat with here, other message boards, and of course, offline: HS friends, work friends, neighbors, my girls in my neighborhood...and Necro.
I’m so fucking lucky, even though my heart hurts in a way I’ve never felt before.
Smiling through tears at all I have, and the memories of my crazy dad.

Your quiet support has been greatly appreciated more than you can know. I'm offering the same to you. I'm here if you have the need.

My friends hosted a lovely little Christmas party tonight. We had a delicious potluck meal, played some games, and had a white elephant gift exchange. It was a great evening filled with laughter, good food and drink, and people who have really become some great friends over the last few years.

What made me smile? A surprisingly positive response to my Holiday Contest entry. I can't take complete credit for it, as I benefitted from an awesome editor.

I suck at this whole self promotion thing, but I might have a good shot at the Contest and I'll kick myself if I don't try. It's a timed competition and -as I understand it- I have to have 25 voters before Dec 14 to have my score count in the contest. I have no idea how many votes comprise my score.
