Simple pleasures: cuddles with determinedly snuggly little guy dog. He reflex in, put his head under my chin and is making happy little noises to be in my arms. I know JUST how he feels and I am so happy I make him feel secure and loved and snuggly.

Same here with lady kitten! We have just had a couple of hours of cuddling and purring.

Which probably means she's going to be playing pounce-the-toes all night...

knowing only 4 days of work left before 12 days of no work  with only the occasional helper, even four days a week running a shop that could happily use 3-4 people a day running it is hard work, especially this time of year!

Reading about smiling litsters :)

I am smiling about having peace inside, especially at this time of year.

May I make a make a suggestion? My cats were taught from kitten hood that this was not acceptable. We had 'mad hour'. About half an hour- an hour before bed before bed, then half an hour to an hour of calm quiet before bed and NO response to playfulness, but just stroking and quiet cuddles then and in bed. Pounce the toes was met with a cuddle back at the to of the bed and stroke back in to quite submission. It is a morning only game in this house.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE reading your kitten adventures! I am so happy for you!

Yep, toe-pouncing = stern NO and if she continues, she gets picked up and put on the floor. I need my sleep :)

This morning she came downstairs just when her mother was in the garden outside, along with her current beau. Mama and kitten saw one another and there was much sadness. Had to spend about an hour grooming her before she settled and stopped calling, poor thing :-/

Still can't capture the mother? :(

elli. Every day. She's a true friend, and I love her dearly.

*****

And my tiny 7yo daughter, cleaning the clock of her enormous older brother and making him scream like a little girl.
All I could make out was, 'Stop saying I'm doing the potty dance!'

 wtf? :D

I think she had hold of his hair, and every time he would yell, I could hear her giggling, and knew they were having a wonderful time.

We've taken a break from trying to trap her. Still feeding her occasionally but we're going away in a couple of days, so we wouldn't have time to get her to the vet and back to release. Also, I think it'll take some time before she's willing to put her nose back in the trap.

Mama's boyfriend (don't think he's the dad) has been wandering around with her. This afternoon I looked up and saw him sitting on the outside of our balcony, looking in at where I had the kitten. Not sure what HIS angle on this is!

GOOD NEWS: we finally trapped Mama. (Kittens in a crate next to the back of the trap, cloth draped over them so the only way she could approach was through the trap.)

BAD NEWS: Mama wriggled out of the cat trap as we were carrying it into the garage. (Sides are held to the floor by metal clips, looks like one of them had broken off unnoticed, and she was able to force it open a couple of inches and squeeze through that gap. I am very impressed. She is a worthy opponent.

GOOD NEWS: she escaped inside the garage, so we were able to close the door and I don't think she can get out of that. (Watch her prove me wrong.) So we fixed up the trap with some cable ties and re-set it with food in it. Hopefully when she gets hungry enough we can catch her again, though I expect we'll have a stinky mess to clean up when we do.

BAD NEWS: our garage is very cluttered and we'll probably have a stinky mess to clean up when we do catch her.

Oh, I just realised I forgot to give the sequel to this. The latch on the garage door doesn't work, so I had heavy stuff propped against the door to stop her pushing it open. Somebody (not me) went in to check on her, and forgot to block the door again, so she got out. :-/ That was around last Wednesday.

I'm so bored, I have 4 hours to do 1.5 hours of work and I have no motivation.. grrr
