What pissed you off today?

A completely hollow apology from someone who spread chaos in my art community for several years. Now she claims she was "under Satan's influence." Yeah, sure, bitch, the devil made you do it, now you say you've found god and everyone is instantly supposed to love you and forgive you.

So. Not. Happening!

Is it wrong that I lol'd a bit??

Losing a close friend who appeared to be the picture of good health. He went out for a jog and that was the last thing he did. Barely a couple years older than me, too.
My deepest sympathies, Yank, for you and for his family and other friends.

Thanks for all the support, friends. Spent a few hours at a bar with some mutual friends last night and we toasted his memory. It helped a good bit. Visitation and funeral the next two days will be tough but manageable. What's that saying, "There but for the grace of..."?

Hot strong coffee?

... when I realized the inconsistency of somebody mortally offended by euphamistically couched vague generalizations of the physicality of modern dating....and so painfully shy about it that they could not, nay they dared not register any modicum of objection at the time....

...but they have gathered intestinal fortitude to regale others in explicit language and lurid detail the erroneous conclusions that they drew from the allegedly offensive conversational thread.

The storms Friday night and Saturday morning killed my modem and router. I had to go spend money I didn't have to replace them because, hey, gotta work. I got home, and the new modem/router combo thingie worked fine...until I moved away from it. In my bedroom, less than 20 feet away from the router, the wireless signal is too weak to pick up.

Of course, the office of the company who made the thing isn't open until tomorrow. I feel as though I should call them before going back to the place I bought it from, in case there's something I can do to make it work better. Plus, I'd hate to take it back and get another one that does THE EXACT SAME THING. If the range is really that tiny on it, I'd like to get something totally different if I'm going to have to go back to the store and exchange.

So I'm having to sit here some 4 feet from the stupid modem/router in order to make sure that my Internet will stay connected throughout my dispatch shift. I don't like working in my living room, and it's throwing my mojo off enormously. *Sigh*

Missed this. So sorry to hear this, my friend. :rose:

Thank you. It was very gratifying to see how many people showed up to honor him. The visitation line - which you followed in order to greet his widow - took me a full hour and I arrived later than some, who had to wait longer. Many, many of our Toastmasters friends were there and it was very touching to hear from his family how much he had appreciated our work together. Then the service, which was full-bore Catholic, was touching. This was followed by a military salute (he served in the Army when he was young), which was also moving. Then we mostly all went to a local community center for drinks and lunch and more story-swapping. Lots of hugs and tears (some mine) and laughter. That helps you work out the uglies pretty quickly.

My own stupidity. Packed up for the week, didn't load up my CPU, so may not be doing any posting, or working, until the weekend. <Sigh>

I am aggravated because even though people say that they are willing to help you they really never do.. That is fine.. I am going to find a way.. When I do.. I will remember all those fuckers (even family are included) and then we will see how fast I jump when they need me!! REALLY? I have always jumped to help them when they needed me and now that I REALLY need someone there for me, they fucking can't.. NO more Miss nice girl..

Yet again, family. Their self-righteous entitlement is amazing.
(and, yes...that thing about not assuming responsibility for your actions-sucks!)

I am so done...(if not for my nieces)

I am so sorry. I know exactly how you feel. *Hugs* :rose:

Heading to work the other day, saw some jackoff trying to run over the dog who was chasing his van, including swerving into a parking lot and over the curb several times when it managed to dodge out of the way.

Everything.
The media, politics, old men-- young men-- my friends, my family, myself-- I am on a hair trigger these days. A simple pun will start me shaking with rage.

And I haven't had my first testosterone shot yet!
