What the US 2024 “Election” Will Resolve:

Trump would have been a footnote if the establishment had swiftly adapted to copying his positions to keep him out. Committing to hating everything he did kept him a viable candidate for three elections. They finally got around to copying him a little bit. That's too late for 2024, but they can practice for 2028. This election will make the point that candidates must have working brains. They need to be more than meat puppets, for a little while, until we settle back into the routine.

I have trouble seeing him as a footnote; more of a urban legend, like ol' PT, the Cruiser...,

okay

someone is delusional

"In a striking forecast days before the 2024 presidential election, Rasmussen’s head pollster, Mark Mitchell, is suggesting that Donald Trump will secure a strong lead nationally and dominate in key battleground states, positioning him for a sweeping victory. Mitchell even foresees a potential flip of Virginia and New Hampshire, adding that other states, like Minnesota or New Mexico, might follow suit."

All four Cs plus a bonus double score.

It's so descriptive of the election season.

My prediction: This will all fold after the election.

Trump would have been a footnote if the establishment had swiftly adapted…
Why is rise of a legitimate and capable vice president blamed on a corrupt DNC and the rise of trump equated to this whole shadow ‘establishment’ rather than the spineless failing of an unprincipled Republican Party?

Rightwing billionaire "tech bro" Peter Thiel is playing the long game.
He gave Don Trump Jr. a taste of the "glamourous life" he (Jr) craved so much.
Junior and Thiel convince the dotard to take Jay Dee as his running mate.
Jay Dee is Thiel's protege, the son Thiel will never have.
  • Trump gets elected, gets impeached, Jay Dee is President. Thiel wins.
  • Trump gets elected, goes to prison, Jay Dee is President. Thiel wins.
  • Trump gets elected, dementia increases, 25th amendment invoked, Jay Dee is President. Thiel wins.
  • Trump is defeated, Jay Dee is clear frontrunner for 2028. Thiel wins (eventually).

Things are deviating rather substantially from the thread topic and originally cited article.

I noted that very critical issues were ignored studiously, and the subsequent posts by the community bear out that thought.

You can’t commit to substantive discussion while at the same time refusing to interact with the aforenamed crises and issues. You cannot preclude such matters systemically from discourse and host a national election which has more import than a popularity contest.

Were there real leadership, these frankly childish devices would not be used. That they are demonstrates a shocking measure of political illiteracy and a non-serious attitude toward the most consequential crises of our time.

NO serious, nationally offered candidate is worthy of support on the grounds of crises named. In the midst of a political earthquake, political leadership looks like this.

The struggle to liberate the US begins Wednesday, November 6, 2024.

You are ignorant, unoriginal, and impotent.

Decent, intelligent individuals are doing what is possible ((voting for Kamala and Democrats) to achieve positive change.

I suggest you get on board or get out of the way.

What do the socialists intend to do on November 6th?

I admit that serious issues are not being discussed. I'm not sure the socialist website article has items that all need to be addressed in order to be fulfilled here. I certainly can't see how the socialist agenda is the answer to any of our issues.

You sound naive about how politics work during an American election cycle where money, deceptive advertising, and scare tactics are still the way the game is played.

And you sound miffed that most posters are not playing your purist game.

Tough shit.

Socialist Equality is a Trotskyist party. The Trots have never come to power in any country yet -- why would this be the first?

get on board ..
That’s what I’m TELLING you.

But in order to get ‘on board,’ there must be a program, and it must be PUBLISHED.

Parties RUN on their program.

Recall President Biden’s installation?

He said that Trump failed to defeat “our democracy.” As Biden had it, it was … not today, not tomorrow, and not ever.

Yet here we now are — at a place we were told that we would never be. How and WHY is was this permitted to happen again?

Parties have complete control over their partizan program and agenda. They make every decision in all aspects of party life. Research and strategy, data management, policy formulation, resource management, compliance and regulation, law, outreach, political alliances, education, agitation and propaganda, damage control, membership management, volunteer management, event planning, candidate handling, fundraising, logistics, communications — there is not one operation that a party does not control.

This is only proper. These are internal party matters. So long as it operates within the bounds of its own constitution and any operational procedures derived therefrom, that party functions entirely within its rights.

But to the extent that democracy applies in society, it is the citizens’ right to pose any questions they may have about any aspect of party life. And the question to be asked and frankly faced is: against the backdrop of January 6 events, what did democrats do post Biden’s inauguration to ensure that US democracy would ‘not ever’ face this crisis?

This can be fleshed out by asking:

“What research was done into the origins, basis, social class nature and development of the threat posed by this distinctively US form of fascistic reaction? What questions were formulated? What committees were formed and commissioned to do such work? What inquiries did they make? To whom did they report their findings? What analytical and strategic work was done with this data? What permanent education campaign was established to counter this existential threat to US democracy? How was this work done? What was published and publicized? What did the party do to reverse fascism’s rise?”

From what I can see, not of these was pursued. With complete control over every aspect of organizational life, the regime refused resolutely to implement even one, solitary initiative to staunch fascism’s rise.

Not in nearly four years.

Fascism cannot be opposed through the Democratic Party because democrats and their party refuse to oppose fascism. Had even one or two points been addressed, that [if woefully inadequate] might allow some excuse for this disastrous failure. But the complete absence of any and all measures even to uncover the most basic aspects of fascism simply cannot be an oversight.

Fascism can be opposed ONLY by a total break from the whole US political spectrum. The struggle against fascism must be taken from democrats to ensure that it happens.

Democrats refused to create a program to oppose fascism. So the working class will.

Because parties run on their program.

Not in the United States. A political party here is little more than a brand name. A candidate is an independent entrepreneur, who announces candidacy without party leadership's permission, and has to do all of his/her own campaigning and fundraising, and, if elected, is independent and takes no orders from party officials. There are no party dues, no party membership cards. There is not even any mechanism for expelling a member from a party. If David Duke says he is a Republican, if Lyndon LaRouche says he is a Democrat, nobody can say he isn't.
