I'm not sure what it is Liana, although I have many times thought it could be the basis of who I am now. I was in a marriage for 10 years to a man who had a alcohol problem, those times were very hard, especially because there are/were children involved. I did everything for him, I remember one day he came downstairs and asked me which hole to put his belt on, I looked at him at that point and thought christ what am I doing? It was relentless, everything on my shoulders. And his problem made him completely selfish, so I did feel for a long time it was give on my part. I don't feel I had a particulary loving childhood, but we are close as a family, and have gotten closer since my Mum was diagnosed with cancer (funny how good things can come out of bad!). My theory is..and I have no idea which recess of my mind this came from lol....but when my SO is controlling, commanding and delivering whatever he see's fit to during playtime...he must love me right? I interpret it as an energy thing, I need his energy to feel safe and secure, if that gets taken away, the foundations start to shake. I think it has a lot to do with the way women feel and the way men feel. When he backs off into his cave, its because he wants to think and study, has absolutely nothing to do with me, but more to do with him. Us as women see it as a 'attack' straight to the emotional self. So, I'm not really sure, I think there is a lot more to the reasons why I am into BDSM than I will perhaps ever know.
