For the picnic today, we had made roast beef with the sous vide ans a potato sallad with mustard vinaigrette.
For dinner we had barbecued pork with rice and rhubarb chutney.

For MWY - I seem to remember something about whole wheat not really being good for you, that you need sprouted what instead. But I don't remember what the reasoning was, allergies or blood sugar. You might Google sprouted vs whole wheat, if you think bread is a factor. Sounds like it might not be.
Have you read the basics of Atkins? The reasoning behind it?

I have read Atkins and I've read numerous well-educated and thoroughly-reasoned debunking of the junk science behind it.

Besides, my lab report is back and it's all normal. I can still eat donuts. :D

It's a slow cooking day. Chicken stock is on the stove, navy beans soaking (for white bean and chicken chili for dinner), and a dairy free potato corn chowder is almost ready for lunch.

Smells wafting about here are completely eye lid heavy deep breathing divine.

Anyone got any good ideas for fennel? I've grown some in my herb garden but now realise I have no clue how to use it

Again I swoon.

I am so many times each week excited that I came for one sensory joy, yet have others piqued. Some of you are as good role models for the kitchen as for humour and kink, and life in other respects.

I can hardly wait to try this.

And I can hardly wait for an excuse to make it again! :D Definitely my favourite fennel dish...

That looks absolutely delicious!! Thank you :rose:

You're very welcome! Let me know if you liked it :)

Why on earth did the celebrity chefs have to talk about how great flank steak can be? The price just keeps going up.

Anyway, grilled flank steak, roasted vegetables and chili bearnaise today.

I like it as carpaccio - thin slices sprinkled with good oil and lemon juice, salt and pepper and maybe capers, marinated that way for 2+ hours.

If you are a foodie and haven't seen Chef's Table, I highly recommend it if you can see it. It's on Netflix. Very inspirational, and I like the different values / themes of each episode.

Does ordering a very specific combination of ingredients at Subway count as cooking? Asking for a friend.

I'm not qualified to answer that :D

Today I harvested all the rhubarb from the garden and made a batch of crumbles to put in the freezer. Total self indulgence as none of my bizarre family like the taste except me..

What, no games of "Hide the Rhubarb"? :p
