That looks beautiful! Thanks Iris! :)
I'm not familiar with the ingredient glukose/glucose, though, for candying.
Can you elaborate?

It's glucose syrup. I use it in sorbets and ice creams, but haven't used it for candying myself.

Yup, this.

You can do without but it makes hard candy somewhat less toothbreakingly hard.
In this case though, I don't think it matters very much.

but not like karo. Here I buy it in small bottles, its clear coloured. Can you buy clear coloured corn syrup marketed as 'corn syrup'?

Yes. I'm not a big user of it, but I have a few good international markets close by if I can't find it at my grocery store. Thanks! :)

Tonight I made little artisnal loaves, olive, goat cheese and roasted garlic. I could live on these...

I make half chicken / half beef meatballs, and I make them very small - about the size of a nickel. I chop and caramels shallots to go in the mix, and I even add a splash of cream. I'm guessing you need to keep the fat content down? But adding the shallot can help with flavour and moisture, and keeping the size small would mean less cooking time which could help moisture content. Maybe you could add a little parm to the mixture. Another thing might be finely chopped mushrooms. If you can get them to give up their liquor while they are cooking in the meatball, that would be yummy :)

SSo you like tiny little balls then. Weird.

Any sort of sauce that you like with these tiny little balls?

I made a frittata tonight, really enjoyed it. Bacon, purple potato, red and yellow sweet pepper, yellow squash, asparagus, onion, mushroom, and cheese. I made it with duck eggs, and really liked it. So easy. I'll be making them more. I liked that I was able to use up little bits of things I had kicking about in the fridge to a tasty result...

HHmm, asparagus, interesting. Where do you get duck eggs?

I'm having a hard time imagining asparagus as an ingredient like that, but what the heck. It's worth a shot.

Let me precede this whole bit by admitting that I'm not sure if I should be flattered, freaked, or flabbergasted

Om, nom, nom, nom. Needs more guac. Is the pork 'jerk" with a sauce or a rub?
I'm pretty sure you're already in the know here, but my answer is rub :)

Balls aren't the only thing I like tiny ;)
Sauce is an "in the moment" thing.
What can you recommend?

I get my duck eggs at the farmers market.
I can't help you with your imagination. Good luck with that :)

There's an ice cream for sale at Whole Foods that's made with olive oil. I think it's chocolate and olive oil or something like that. I just can't bring myself to try it.

Ok! Well. Now we know. Because... we were all suffering total curiosity with that one. Yep :l

I wonder how those would survive in the mail?

Feel free to PM me your address. I'll send bread. Yep! And not that other B thing, bomb. Nope :D Just bread. When I have your address. Yep :p

Tonight we will be having a chicken and asparagus salad. I'm just about to cook the chicken and asparagus and then leave them to cool for later.

First night its going to be nice enough to eat outside in the evening for a little while. Depending on when G gets home of course.

Well if you have a cat, be sure to guard your chicken well - just ask seela how :p

Two cats, two dogs. I'm a professional and hiding food.

One of my cats likes potato chips and poppadoms too. When she was younger she stole a loaf of bread. Chicken is a shoo in for her to pinch.

And oxtail? Tiny little under three kg cats can get the lids off very heavy, boiling hot cast iron cooking on a stove top. Seela, you have been warned. :D

I had a cat that loved corn on the cob! She was grey and white striped, with a raccoon mask. I always figured that some atavism or another had her liking the corn. She would sit up on her hind legs, hold the cob upright with her front paws, torn her head sideways and chomp away!

And how did I discover she liked corn on the cob? Because she stole it right off the counter one day  the only thing she ever broke the rules to steal! Ok, the only time I knew about it, at least

What is a poppadom? I've never heard of such. :)

Indian "potato chips" made from lentil or chickpea flour (I think there are other sources, too). They are like crack, but loaded in protein, and delicious for dipping into the usual Indian restaurant condiments like dal and raita.

And now I'm craving curry, dammit!

Tonight I'm making a pork roast which might morph into pulled pork sammies or something. Not sure yet, but at least I pulled a piece out to defrost.
