Why so many cuckhold stories?

Fair enough, but most of the hateful comments come from people that not only know full well what they're reading, but also actively seek it out so they can apparently try to convert the writer to their blinkard world view.

Seems to me the LW section has just had its definition changed on the index page.

Like I said...

I agree with what you say. I even got a death threat from one of my stories. The author doesn't write for the numskulls you name. He writes for an audience who will, hopefully, enjoy his work. So, why not simply write something describing the story.

For personal reasons, I enjoy reading stories of infidelity, whether they reconcile or not in the end is not that important to me as long as the story is plausible and written well. Personally I find stories of "willing" cuckolds offensive. You may not agree with that but it is my view and I believe it is my prerogative to feel that way. Thankfully most of the stories in that genre are marked in some way, either in the title, author's name is sometimes a clue, or in the tags. I have absolutely no problem with them at all and simply take a pass.

It is the story that has no clue as to the nature of the story and even disguises itself as one thing then blindsides the reader at the very end. It is this that pisses me off to no end. You may think that kind of thing doesn't happen too often, but it actually happens quite a lot.

I don't know the demands on other readers time, but I own 3, online business, in addition to being a freelance photographer, artist, and writer. When I have time to sit down and enjoy reading a little erotica, I like to know up front what I'm reading. I doubt very much that I am the only one who feels that way. In fact, I know an awful lot of former fans who feel the same way.

Hey sr...

Your hiney, oh I'm sorry, that's supposed to be your highness isn't it..., if you noticed, my comments were meant for Max. I wish someone would change your diapers so you would stop crying.

Offensive is a strong word - I'm interested to know why you are offended, when infidelity behind someone's back is not offensive to you. I'm not partial to, for example, gay male stories, but it certainly doesn't offend me and I would defend anyone that wants to write such stories. I'm not criticising, I'm just interested in why.

I think my point about the synopsis up front is that really, book blurbs are there to market a book, to tempt someone to buy. They are not there to warn readers about content to expect. All the publisher wants to do is get your payment, they don't care that you might be shocked or outraged by something later in the book.

At the moment, people may well be encouraged to conceal certain aspects of their stories precisely because if they make them overt, they attract the kind of trolls that actively seek out those topics to abuse the writers.

I assume you don't like to sit down and read a story with any kind of twist in the plot? Some readers prefer not to know exactly what is coming up in the story. Perhaps you should just avoid stories that don't provide a synopsis if you don't have time for disappointment?

Culture is inevitably going to disappoint some people. You have tags, titles, descriptions and comments from previous ratings to give you clues as to what is coming up.

awww, but it's fun to wind them up. :D

You should have used the PM system then. If you post to the forum, anyone can comment.

So far you're the one who wants a babysitter to keep your delicate eyes from seeing material that would make you melt--so I think the diaper . . .

No, actually you cry...

Every time someone has the audacity to have a difference of opinion than your holiness. Then you stomp your feet and lash out with personal attacks so you can feel better about yourself by putting others down.
Your ignorance is in your smugness thinking you are the only one that counts, when really, you count very little.

It did, not that it's going to matter. This is the category where "Did not read, 1 star" is a common comment.

Yeah, but it's concise and completely encapsulates the stupidity and invalidity of the majority of comments in that category.

oh, i had one, on another site, that went along the lines of she stopped reading when she realised it wasn't incest role-play, but actual (fictional/actual) mother-son incest she was reading about.

wtf is the difference?

Because the author doesn't want to? Nor does the author have to? Those are fine reasons for not putting a description in the story. If you like to do that, and a prologue or description improves your story, then by all means do that. But not everyone wants to, or will.

It is the story that has no clue as to the nature of the story and even disguises itself as one thing then blindsides the reader at the very end. It is this that pisses me off to no end. You may think that kind of thing doesn't happen too often, but it actually happens quite a lot.

While I understand your disappointment here, all I can say is, "So what?" As someone else noted, book summaries/descriptions are there to market the book -- it's to entice the reader, not "warn" them. So certain elements will be highlighted and others downplayed, and so the reader still takes a risk.

I don't know the demands on other readers time, but I own 3, online business, in addition to being a freelance photographer, artist, and writer. We all have demands on our time. I have two kids at home right now b/c of summer vacation, a house to take care of -- dishes to watch, etc. -- food shopping and laundry to do and all that. So I don't read a ton of stuff online anymore. But even when I do, I know there's a chance I might not like what I click on, even if it's in a category I know I like, by an author I'm familiar with and I've checked the title and tagline. You just take your chances, that's all there is to it.

Your hiney, oh I'm sorry, that's supposed to be your highness isn't it..., if you noticed, my comments were meant for Max. I wish someone would change your diapers so you would stop crying.

I'm with SR on this one. If you wanted a private conversation with Max or anyone else, it's likely not going to happen on a public forum board.

You're the one who keeps bringing up needing babysitting on a porn story board.

I gave you the practical answer to your problem. Go ahead and put a explanatory proslug on your stories and let us know how that works out. The website obviously isn't going to do your work for you beyond what it's already given to identify stories: title, slug, category, and tags.

And in the personal attack arena, you take the prize.

Book blurbs

"Blurbs" on commercial books are intended to promote sales, not to warn off readers who might be offended. Here on Lit, where all efforts are free, in my opinion it's reader beware: if your sensibility is such that your psyche might be irrevocably scarred by being exposed to certain collections of words, stay the hell off Lit and go somewhere commercial where your complaints might be taken as meaningful.

Otherwise, feel free to "skim" on Lit as the rest of us do.

to answer your question...

Why so many cuckold stories? I won't pretend to be an expert, but here are some reasons I think it's popular:

1. It's like watching personal porn. Normal porn is anonymous. For all you know, the actors could be robots, and although it's kinda hot watching anonymous people go at it, when it's your wife, it comes a lot closer to home and is more deeply personal, having a greater potential to have a deeper erotic effect.

2. Every man wants a wife that is hot and desirable. Cuckold stories bring that desire to its logical outworking.

3. When you're banging your wife, you have a limited perspective, unless you have mirrors everywhere. Watching your wife getting banged by someone else allows you to watch from a variety of perspectives and to see the action from a disconnected third party viewpoint. I think it can help you visualize how hot you look when you're in the action.

4. Cuckold stories which involve men that have larger sexual assets that your wife can't seem to do without feeds a man's fantasy world of what it would be like to have those assets.

Remember, this is all fantasy. Cuckold stories appeal to many men, but most of these men would never try to turn the fantasy to reality.

FANTASY is ALMOST ALWAYS BETTER THAN REALITY!
