Winter Holiday 2024 Contest Support and Seasonal Story Discussion Thread

Then when I read the rules, I was in for a shock: it was all about winter, snow and the like and I started writing my story thinking it was more centred on end-of-year festivities.
I'm in doubt now, will my story qualify? it's about a family Christmas celebration where things go wrong (or right :ROFLMAO:) when an unexpected picture comes up on the slide show. but it's not in winter. Like all my stories so far, it's set on a tropical island in the Southern hemisphere.
So before I send my story, I would like your opinion. Is the reference to Christmas enough?
Thank you.
To quote the page 'This time, the theme is seasonal holidays and winter-related events.'
I don't think that 'and' is a 'must' and from a story I read, the Christmas element was limited to 'Oh and at Christmas she revealed she was having my baby! So I proposed!

My story is winter-related and not Christmas as it 'happened' 3000 to 2600 years before Christ, but at the Winter Solstice.

Anyway, the judges of the contest are the readers (sorry those who vote) so as long as you follow Author must copy and paste the phrase "WINTER HOLIDAY 2024" to the "Notes to Admin" field of the submission (quotes are not needed). And you don't break the under 18 sex rule it should get published.

Others will be along to correct me if needed!

Christmas definitely qualifies! 100%!! Submit it!!!

Thank you @AlexFourways and @FreyaGersemi - I will.
I'm having a last check right now and I'm having doubts concerning my tags.
What is termed "Public Sex"? Does sex by an old couple in front of their (grown-up) children qualify?
What about "mature" or "older man/woman"? Does it imply the mature having a relationship with someone younger or can it be mature with mature?
Thank you for your answers

No, unless it's also in a public place; that's what "public sex" typically means.

The Mature category is both for age-gap romance as well as romance between older people. Putting a story there and also tagging it "mature" is somewhat redundant; I'd use tags to differentiate between those two subgroups I just mentioned.

Would a story with a major section on spanking (there are other activities afterwards) qualify for the Fetish category?

I can't find it, but FreyaGersemi 👩🏻‍🦰 knows the page that lists which caterories trump each other. Look at that. Also, for instance I am working on a Non-Human story as it mostly involves Androids and Gynoids. There is some anal sex but not enough to change the category to Anal, so I have put a Warning this story includes some anal sex but not enough to change catergory. Your experience may be different but others have done similar. The reason is if someone has an adversion to that (or spanking but not enough to make it BDSM) they can leave on page 1 before they get to page X and then hop to the end to give a 1⭐ and negative comment.
<EDIT> found the link 👩🏻‍🦰 sent me https://www.literotica.com/s/love-your-readers-categories?page=2&comments_after=2223555 </EDIT>

Oh, am I the only one who would like to be able to give a 👍🏻as well as a 🗑️ on "Moderate Comments"?

Hi all - I started a story as soon as I finished my Summer 2024 story, thinking I didn't have material for Halloween (I finally did but that's another story) and I've been waiting for the official start of the contest without realising it was already there.

Just to add to the other responses on this issue - my entry is set on a tropical island in the southern hemisphere (I'm an Australian, and my narrator is a Kiwi), and many of the comments have been appreciative of the setting (and the story is doing just fine). Escapism is a thing right now for some reason, so the setting may actually be an advantage. Turn up the sun by 20% and make the water perfect for midnight dips, I reckon...

I'm really struggling with this one. About 11K words and i'm about halfway but it's really tough going to get to the finish somehow. Going to try to suck it up and at least get the draft done.

Thank you As you said the spanking is not really the BDSM type - This story is peculiar in that it is borderline in many categories. It happens in a family setting but there is not incest (they see but they don't interact but maybe taboo applies because you don't have sex in front of your children), it is not public sex if I go by what @AlexFourways said but they are doing it in front of all, spanking but not BDSM (it's more a foreplay game), several people have sex together in the same sex but it is not groupsex, each one is with his/her own partner - not LW either even if there are wives present and fornicating. And yes. not Mature or Younger the old couple fuck together each of the children fuck their own spouse, the celibate youngest daughter takes care of herself - great Family reunion!
Maybe only E&V applies there though the mother gets her thrill not from being exposed but from being spanked.
Do we necessarily have to put a category? I've read stories that had none, nor any tags but maybe for a contest, it doesn't apply.

I'm actually looking to submit a piece I've done but don't know how to go about posting as this will be my first ever entry. Any help from experienced authors would be greatly appreciated.

There are FAQ https://www.literotica.com/faq/ and the second topic is Publishing.
But basically it is quite simple... (OK I've been dealing with computers from 1976 as a user(ish) ).
Just click on the New Story at the top of your home page https://www.literotica.com/my/#/activity/all or directly and answer all the questions.
First go to [Save Draft], check things and then go for [Publish] and make sure your Note to Admin includes the magic phrase WINTER HOLIDAY 2024 also don't trust me, copy paste from the Competition Page.
Phew!
Hope that helps - but I can give more help if required.

What do the kids say? Tell me you're old without telling me you're old. 😆 Just kidding!!!

I wonder what the average age of authors on Literotica is...

I've never posted a poem to a contest, but when I post a "normal" poem it often takes weeks. We'll see what good the magic of Holiday Contest 24 brings!
It published in two days. That's a little faster than my submissions (all stories, prior to this poem) usually go, but faster than @Voboy 's experience. So, maybe the tag helped?

Go for it. My entry starts with a New Year's eve party and moves quickly through the year without referencing the seasons until the emphasis shifts to beinga cold harsh winter, and the suffering of the MC.

Of a 100 comments a single '1 🌟 ' award because....it spans a year. I must have misread the literal time constraints with regards to a set of dates. My advice go for it!, you can always offer a refund for those that aren't 😊.

Not2Pervy's Temptation Road Trip is doing fine despite starting at the end of Summer with a quick conclusion that 'just happens' to be when the male MC returns home at Christmas. (final few paragraphs after 6 pages) so 'Go For IT!'
Mine The Druid's Winter Solstice Gift doesn't happen at Christmas* either, because they hadn't invented it in 2600BCE! 🤣

*I have read, more than once, that based on when the census was undertaken, when people would have the time for travel and the sheep still being on the hillside we should be celebrating Christmas at the end of October. But Yule and Saturnalia were already times of celebration (cf my story for why) and the Church thought that it is easier to rebrand than to abolish them! [I reserve the right to be (proved) wrong. YMMV et al]

My story count of published stories - 11th 14, 12th 26, 13th 31, 14th 36, 15th 43.
So 14 + 12 + 5 + 5 + 7
Will be interesting if there is a late surge or have all the presents been delivered?

I have made a (small) rod for my own back (with extra flail) and would stop the flagilation but have been told NOT TO!

BTW I looked at the 'Find Stories with TAG 'Winter holiday 2024' and it only found 11, so it isn't much use.😞

That's because many do not put Winter Holiday 2024 in the tags because it's already in the Admin note for the contest - if you want to have a look at all entries for a particular contest (Say Summer Lovin 2023), you won't find them all, only those who also added the tag

Interesting. In the past, I've had the applicable contest tag added by Literotica to any of my entries, so I just thought the tags were just a given.

FreyaGersemi LOL You deserve to win based on the range of debauchery you've covered! Not had the chance to read it yet but I certainly will. Does Rudolph the red nosed reindeer make an appearance? :ROFLMAO:

"My Holiday Contest entry: Here Cums Santa's Cock
Warning: This story contains gang bang, cowgirl, plumper, spanking, lesbian, first time male, cheating husband, mature, MMF menage a trois, anal, cunnilingus, masturbation, dual penetration, facial, and more!!! Read at your own risk!!!"

Why would you use tags to find the contest stories? The contest page makes this year's stories pretty accessible.

For prior years use the same URL (https://www.literotica.com/stories/contest.php/winter-holidays-2024) and substitute the year you're interested in for '2024.' I'm not sure all of the prior years are still available, but I do know that they go back several years. Some of the contest stories aren't available any more because they've been removed from Lit.
