You really don't see a difference in Lovecraft's posts here and mine? Interesting.
I think it suffices to state your opinion once and let it be. Repeatedly beating the same dead horse is useless and tiresome, and when it deteriorates into personal attacks, it's juvenile.
That, of course, isn't responsive to the question.
And what you discribe isn't a discussion.
Discussion is fine, but you guys are so predictable. *Just like my kids, you start out okay, but before long, it turns into personal attacks. *
So, you think we engage in personal attacks on the same level/volume? Interesting.
Once it becomes personal, I don't care. It's all just noise.
It's much more complex than that. Unless, of course, it's fine with you that one permits the other just to walk all over him--which, of course, you would do in the same circumstance, right? Right!
That's two questions you avoided answering. Might ask yourself why.
So you felt like you were being walked over?
What I find interesting is the amount of time and energy you are willing to devote to this.
Interesting that you overlooked the start of personal attack in the last paragraph of LC's #240.
...lame "everbody" claim...
...this was mostly folks whining about not having options and me pointing to all the options they have here...Most of my repetition was a response to my suggestions just being ignored--apparently because people just wanted to whine.
...And as far as I know, I've never seen your tits.
...
...The question arises why you came in--other than to play the Mother Theresa Internet game--since you didn't seem to care about the discussion at all. Pretty much to play one of the fomenting variations of the game, right?...
Good summary!
And thanks!
Oh, and I've never deleted comments, but writing in romance, I don't typically have to. I get interesting emails, tho.
So do my female pen names.
I don't remember seeing your tits on another thread either.
#242 is penning down the fallacy of the last paragraph of #240. I was raised in the era of massive retaliation. (Having basically only one--even if interminable--story on Lit. is pretty well described as a one-note samba, I think. )
Damn! You're still awake???
But are you ready for this? The samba's actually pretty good. Rough--in more ways than one--but good.

Oooh, too bad you missed that one!
Yes, you're very witty.

Back to the topic of deleting comments or not. While there is no right or wrong, I agree with the pilot. I delete the troll comments. If they return, I delete them again until they get tired of doing it.
My reasons for not leaving a troll comment on my stories is simply because I don't want another reader coming along and commenting on the troll's comment, then another reader comments on that reader's comment, and so on. IMO, it's just easier to delete the troll comments and move on.
But if an author wants to leave the troll comments and take the chance of seeing 'arguments' and 'bickering' (much like in this thread) on their stories, that's their prerogative. Of course, as a reader, often times I'll skim through the comments on a story before reading it and if I see stuff like that, which I have, I'll get the impression the author doesn't care and is just interested in putting his/her story there. And more often than not, I won't read the story for that reason.
Just my two cents. Yeah, I know, no one asked for it.
#247—Somebody woke Autoplot up. And what the hell is that in his signature???
Syd,
Pilot was not still awake. his posts, like his novels are co authored.
I'm guessing you're too much of a nitwit to realize what an idiotic comment that is.
