You know you've spent too much time at Lit when. . .

Just barging in…
I owe you an appology for my nasty replies from a recent thread.
But I was quite sensitized with regards to a certain subject, having been trolled & insulted + + around it, and your pun came just at one of those moments.
So sorry about that, I was inappropriate.

No worries, if I were thin skinned I wouldn't hang out in the GB. The sentiment is appreciated though.:)

My wife runs a program that helps people who have been on disability or welfare assistance get back into the work force.

At one point she asks the class what they have done in the past and do they have any skills.

A young woman pipes up and says, "I was a fluffer."

My wife said she had to take a breath and she looked around the room and could tell a few people got that and she forced herself to ask, "What do you mean?"

Seems the girl once worked at a retail store and part of her job was to go around and fluff the pillows and towels in the racks to make them look good.

My wife informed her without going into detail that she should just say she stocked shelves and not to use that term.

In the London Underground before and during the war they employed people to remove litter and debris from the tracks at night. An accumulation could short out the electrical track.

Most were male employees because it was dirty and dangerous work. But during WW2, the men were replaced by women employees.

For both sexes the job title was "Fluffer".

Now the work is done by machines - Mechanical Fluffers.

When this makes you smile... And wince.

But it ought to work!

I would think that would work really well. *considers setting up a clinic*

Seeing this sign on the PA turnpike:

Imagining a bunch of guys in their cars behind the yellow line, frantically jacking off, and trying not to explain why I busted out laughing to my kid. She already thinks I'm a weirdo.
