~Zen Mountain~

i missed u too honey

the house is quiet

it's the dogs barking
the cat playing
the oven vent sucking
television blaring
wind outside, howling
vehicles driving by
the sink dripping
the turtle in the aquarium
rearranging it's rocks

but whats loudest
thinking of you..

(wrestling with those one arm bandits)

sometimes you don't know what you have until it leaves for a few days-even if you know it is coming back-without any money(lol)

Love u

that star, that star
so very very far
yet I held it with a gaze

the wind, the wind
gave me an embrace
then left in such a hurry

a hand, a hand
holds the moon's shine
glowing in the dark

no thoughts, no thoughts
just living in a moment
and then that moments gone

sometimes i feel
so tired
not sleepy, per say

just so, so tired
of all that is me

tired of all that
happens

tired of having to

make decisions...

hello

retarded kitty

cannot walk
but, boy can he flip

give him a meal
you never know

what he will accomplish
running, flipping,
and attacking

i love this kitty

fishing

hello fish
oops, i caught you
guess i was the winner
but, you are so small
so i guess you won't
be my dinner

i have now found the love of my life
i may have forgotten
but memories
sometimes lie dormant
until
the true feelings come through
my son...my real first love
sleeping on the couch

the most beautiful thing i have ever seen

whatever

i see something,

something real,

that i haven't seen

for a long time...

a job that i love,

and a boss

that i adore

spring cleaning

some cleaning

lots of cleaning

spring is here again

tired, so tired

no more spider webs

walls are done

floors too

house is finally clean

I like the emotions and flow of this one.. I felt the building and an embrace as the moment slipped away nice...

tick tock
goes the clock
silent is the rock

away, away
the wind will stray
trees give way

a day, a day
another in which to play
tomorrow will come, i pray

gasping, gripping
sun beams dripping
away i go skipping

children's laughter
water logged screams
wet clothes and muddy toes

rocks the boat
to gentle waves and friendly smiles
swimming suits and hurricane hair

a day under a burning sun
cools the cheeks and sun-burned shoulders
river water

reaching for inner peace
q-tips in my ear
trying to calm the storm
with a leaf blower
shaking up my life
by stirring the morning tea

A story tells that two friends were walking through the desert. During some point of the journey they had an argument, and one friend slapped the other one in the face. The one who got slapped was hurt, but without saying anything, wrote in the sand: “TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE.”

They kept on walking until they found an oasis, where they decided to take a bath. The one, who had been slapped, got stuck in the mire and started drowning, but the friend saved him. After the friend recovered from the near drowning, he wrote on a stone: “TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SAVED MY LIFE.”

The friend who had slapped and saved his best friend asked him, “After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now, you write on a stone, why?”

The other friend replied: “When someone hurts us, we should write it down in sand where winds of forgiveness can erase it away. But, when someone does something good for us, we must engrave it in stone where no wind can ever erase it.”

At the time, priests of a religion were charging money for a ritual prayer that promised to release a dead relative's soul from hell so he could go to heaven. At one point in the prayer they struck an urn full of stones with a ritual hammer. If the urn broke, and the stones were released, it was a sign that the soul was also released, according to their teaching. Of course, the brittle clay could not withstand the blow of the heavy metal hammer.

A young man, distraught over his uncle's death, went to the Buddha, believing that the Buddha's teaching was a newer, greater form of religion, and asked him for a ritual which would release his uncle's soul. The Buddha told him to obtain two of the ritual urns from the priests, and fill one with butter and and one with stones.

The young man, believing he was about to get a more powerful ritual, was very happy and did as the Buddha said. When he returned, the Buddha told him to place the urns carefully in the river, so that the rim of the urn was just below the surface. Then he instructed him to recite the usual prayer of the priests, and strike both urns under the water with the hammer, at the usual point in the prayer, then come back and describe what happened.

The young man, very excited to be the first person to be given this wonderful new ritual, more effective than the old, did exactly as he was told. On his return, the Buddha asked him to describe what he saw. The young man replied "I saw nothing unusual. When I smashed the urns, the stones sank to the bottom of the river and the butter was washed away on the surface of the river."

The Buddha said "Then you must ask your priests to pray that the butter will sink and the stones will float to the surface!" The young man, shocked by the obvious ridiculousness of this request said "But no matter how much the priests pray, the stones will never float and the butter will not sink."

The Buddha replied, "Exactly so. And, it is the same with your uncle. Whatever good, loving actions he has done during his life will make him rise towards heaven, and whatever bad, selfish actions he has done will make him sink towards hell. And there is not a thing that all the prayers and rituals of the priests can do to alter even a tiny part of the results of his actions!"

Several citizens ran into a hot argument about God and different religions, and each one could not agree to a common answer. So they came to the Lord Buddha to find out what exactly God looks like.

The Buddha asked his disciples to get a large magnificent elephant and four blind men. He then brought the four blind to the elephant and told them to find out what the elephant would "look" like.

The first blind men touched the elephant leg and reported that it "looked" like a pillar. The second blind man touched the elephant tummy and said that an elephant was a wall. The third blind man touched the elephant ear and said that it was a piece of cloth. The fourth blind man hold on to the tail and described the elephant as a piece of rope. And all of them ran into a hot argument about the "appearance" of an elephant.

The Buddha asked the citizens: "Each blind man had touched the elephant but each of them gives a different description of the animal. Which answer is right?"

It was the height of summer and everyone was complaining about the heat. Some men actually shook their fists at the sun. This made the sun very angry and he withdrew from the world.
The earth became cold and dark. People begged the sun’s forgiveness and pleaded with him to come out again, but he refused. The birds decided to send their own emissary and chose the cock for the mission.
The cock went to the sun’s palace and told him about the hardships everyone was facing because of his absence in the sky. But the sun was unmoved.
"I will never traverse the skies again," he said. "You can tell everyone that."
"That means I will have to go back home in the dark," said the cock, admitting defeat. "I’m sure the jungle cat is lying in wait for me. I will crow if she attacks me. Please come to my rescue."
The cock went some distance and then started crowing as loudly as he could. The sun rushed out. He went in search of the cock across the sky but the bird was nowhere to be seen. He had hidden himself.
The sun continues to come out when the cock crows at dawn. He goes in search of the bird across the world but never finds him.

Arresting the Stone Buddha

A merchant bearing fifty rolls of cotton goods on his shoulders stopped to rest from the heat of the day beneath a shelter where a large stone Buddha was standing. There he fell asleep, and when he awoke his goods had disappeared. He immediately reported the matter to the police.

A judge named O-oka opened court to investigate. "That stone Buddha must have stolen the goods," concluded the judge. "He is supposed to care for the welfare of the people, but he has failed to perform his holy duty. Arrest him."

The police arrested the stone Buddha and carried it into the court. A noisy crowd followed the statue, curious to learn what kind of sentence the judge was about to impose.

When O-oka appeared on the bench he rebuked the boisterous audience. "What right have you people to appear before the court laughing and joking in this manner? You are in contempt of court and subject to a fine and imprisonment."

The people hastened to apologize. "I shall have to impose a fine on you," said the judge, "but I will remit it provided each one of you brings one roll of cotton goods to the court within three days. Anyone failing to do this will be arrested."

One of the rolls of cloth which the people brought was quickly recognized by the merchant as his own, and thus the thief was easily discovered. The merchant recovered his goods, and the cotton rolls were returned to the people.

verbal judo

daily, I go nose to nose with those,
who've committed the most vicious of crimes

they spew verbal lashings
bitch slap with one liners
and attempt to grapple my mind with words

a warehouse of hand-cuffed souls
yelling out their unshackled blows
from behind bars, no holds barred
from those physically and mentally scarred

their attempts to bring me down
with vulgar tongue piercing sounds
generally go in one ear and out the other

in and out of these prison bars
I have to stay on my guard
because occasionally I have to use
more than verbal judo
