The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Good morning all, hope you had a restful night. It’s a Monday, but luckily it’s also my Friday as I’m taking the rest of the week off. Since we did Christmas on Saturday with my daughter, the only thing left is going to my Mother in Law’s house for Christmas with them on Christmas Day.

Hope you all have a great day and I’ll try to pop in as my schedule allows.

Morning....

Good morning Spooners. Cold but sunny. No white Christmas for us. The chill does put you in the mood though. Last couple of things to do to wrap up for Santa’s little helper, then kicking back and just enjoying the holiday. Hope everyone has the next few days off or at least gets to slow down and enjoy.

The Tenth Day of Christmas Z

Ahh.... well it sounded like fun... yesterday 8 volunteered at one of our local fire houses for a cookies with Santa event. There was a boy that came in, that apparently has been adopted by The Village. His parents are great he lives in a nice home he's clean he's they have the Necessities but his youngest brother spent several months in the NICU and I just don't think they have money for extras. So he goes to all the events and he rides his bike there. Well he was talking about he wanted gift cards and a new bike for Christmas. And apparently one of the firefighters does a year-long toy drive and then they give vouchers to families that need it and they can come and shop in the donations for a certain amount of money for each kid. She had a bike that would fit him, so we had Santa go around and roll this bicycle out. He didn't think it was for him at first but he was looking longingly at that bicycle. Santa told him that he'd been an awful good boy so he wanted him to have that bicycle early so he could you know get back on his bike and get back to moving around. He was so happy he rolled it around the fire station one time, he packed up his stuff, and he was out of there. He's a very good boy, it felt good to help a good kid. He's 12 years old. When they turned 14 they can be an Explorer for the fire department and they get a uniform and they can ride in the trucks. He wants to be a fireman like his grandpa. Tonight I took my parents out to dinner for my mom's birthday.
That sounds fabulous K! What a nice thing to do!!

I’m sure he’ll remember this his whole life.

I’m glad you got some time to celebrate your mother’s birthday. Happy birthday, mom!

Any possibility of sharing the goulash recipe? Do you know the difference between Hungarian and Polish goulash?
I don’t know the diff but supposedly the Hungarians have a special pepper that they use for paprika and prepare the paprika differently. (I am sure they all say that.)

I am working, but I will break for a little early and post the recipe. I was thinking about starting a new thread just for our recipes.
