Spaetzle turned out really well.

Goulash didn’t suck, but was def not one of my better batches. I’ve never made it in a crock pot before. Meh.

I also made the dreaded pinwheel cookies for Christmas. This involves a lot of flour, rolling out dough. Smooshing the chocolate and vanilla dough together. Usually quite a bit of cussing and swearing.

But this year was really smooth.

Also helped clean the house and hung a new mirror.

And got a few football games in.

So as the missus said, I’m making Hungarian goulash today in the slow cooker.

I will make spaetzle (which my daughter called spazzle, when she was a kid) later on. Have a hearty meal and watch something on tv.

Yesterday was the shortest day of the year… and thus begins to slow march to the summer solstice and the longer days in June….

Recipe please

1 cup flour
2 eggs
1/4 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2-3 tablespoons of parsley
1 teaspoon garlic powder


combine all elements in bowl and whisk or use a small hand mixer.

Let the rest for 15 minutes while you bring 3 quarts of water to a boil.

Scrape the dough into the boiling water, in medium droplets or blobs (depending on consistency) using a spatula or a wooden spoon.

Wait until all of the dogs is in the pot, while scraping the bottom to make sure nothing sticks to the bottom.

Make sure all of it cooks for at least 3 to 4 minutes.

Strain and serve.

It depends on the surface you want to use it on. Some are so abrasive it will scratch the surface, and some contain bleach or other substances which my stain surfaces.

Ahh.... well it sounded like fun... yesterday 8 volunteered at one of our local fire houses for a cookies with Santa event. There was a boy that came in, that apparently has been adopted by The Village. His parents are great he lives in a nice home he's clean he's they have the Necessities but his youngest brother spent several months in the NICU and I just don't think they have money for extras. So he goes to all the events and he rides his bike there. Well he was talking about he wanted gift cards and a new bike for Christmas. And apparently one of the firefighters does a year-long toy drive and then they give vouchers to families that need it and they can come and shop in the donations for a certain amount of money for each kid. She had a bike that would fit him, so we had Santa go around and roll this bicycle out. He didn't think it was for him at first but he was looking longingly at that bicycle. Santa told him that he'd been an awful good boy so he wanted him to have that bicycle early so he could you know get back on his bike and get back to moving around. He was so happy he rolled it around the fire station one time, he packed up his stuff, and he was out of there. He's a very good boy, it felt good to help a good kid. He's 12 years old. When they turned 14 they can be an Explorer for the fire department and they get a uniform and they can ride in the trucks. He wants to be a fireman like his grandpa. Tonight I took my parents out to dinner for my mom's birthday.

I've only used them maybe twice and I've always used the name brand. The other ones seem to break down like you said. For the most part I use old rags and whatever Cleaning Supply I have Murphy's Oil Soap for wood, something with bleach for bathrooms, my new favorite is a thing called The Works. It will take your flesh off, but it cleans a toilet like nobody's business. And then I have my standard vinegar Dawn soap warm water mixture that I use for general cleaning.

I have done that... there's one book in particular that I have rewritten in my head because I disagreed SO VERY MUCH with the author's approach to the story. It was Book 8 in a series. I still remember hurling the book at the wall after reading the last line in the story.

The author remains dead to me. I have not read another of their stories. I will not name them because it's just one reader's opinion. But I am done with their books.

Have you used the fragrance free Dawn? Wondering if the grease cutter works just as well. I'm terribly sensitive to scented products. So much so that I can't even have regular Dawn in my house at all!
