How long does it take to publish a story?

I’ve published a few stories since I’ve been on this site and normally they take a few days to publish, but I have one story that I’ve been trying to get published since November and it’s just stuck in pending. Is it normal for this to happen?

Cheers

P.S Apologies if this is in the wrong thread.

Anything up to a couple of weeks isn't unusual. November is quite long, though. The recommended procedure is to send a DM to Laurel and ask her politely what the status of your story is. She won't reply, but it usually sets things in motion.

Thanks for the help. Forgive my ignorance, but I’m somewhat new to the forums. How do I do this?

You should see an envelope in the upper right of your screen, with an option for "start a new conversation". Just type "Laurel" in the "Recipients" field, and then type your message.

I sent a message hopefully to the right Laurel. Still no update on my pending status. Has been sitting there since the 1st of Jan and that was a republish. I originally sent it to be published at the end of November. Don’t know what else to try now 🤷‍♂️

Whatever you don't resubmit it. Every time you do that, it moves to the back of the line. Stories that were in the queue and are resubmitted are ignored until the queue is whittled down.

I did think that, but all my past stories were published in the space of a week. This is the first one that’s taken over a month. I won’t be republishing again, I guess I’ll just have to leave it for now.

My Lit conspiracy theory is that 9 out of 10 writers who report these looong publishing wait times keep messing with their submitted stories and repeatedly pushing them to the back of the queue😐

I published a story.
Rejected with some remarks.
I modified the story and re-submitted. (new title)
Again rejected with new remarks.
Again I modified the story and again re-submitted (new title).
Accepted and put in the pending list. After 7 days it is still in the pending list.
Please give me a suggestion. How to contact Laure?

I don't think we can give much advice without seeing what the rejection comments were, and taking a peek at the story.

Sounds like you might benefit from getting an editor, try the Editors tab in your author dashboard!

Use the little envelope at the top of your screen to "Start a new conversation". In the "Recipients" field, type "Laurel", and ask politely what the status of your story is.

You most likely won't hear back, but it usually nudges the process forward.

I’ve tried this myself, but no response. My story is still pending it’s been nearly a month since my second resubmit 😭

Is anyone else still stuck in the publishing queue?

Over 2 weeks, and I posted 12 chapters of my first story.

Really keen to see it go live and get feedback and im stuck. It’s just sat in pending.

It all depends on who you know, and if you happen to piss off the wrong author. I have 96 stories posted and they have taken anywhere from 2 to 49 days! If you happen to piss off someone who thinks she is the Queen of Literotica, then good luck.

The only Queen of Literotica is Laurel, and that's undisputed. Pissing off anyone besides her is irrelevant to the approval process.

With my latest story, I submitted it (file upload) on a Friday, it was rejected for a rules violation on Saturday, which was corrected and resubmitted the same day. Showed published on Sunday and went live on Monday, which surprised me due to the Valentine's Day contest entries getting priority
