Getting back on topic, remember: If you call Democrats "Marxists" or "Communists," you are an idiot.
Same objective as the 1991 Gulf War: To show that this is no longer a world where any ruler can hope to expand his country's territory by military aggression. The international community will no longer tolerate that.
Russia had no business trying to keep Ukraine out of NATO. None at all.
There will be no mutual security if Russia succeeds in keeping a square foot of territory it seized in this war -- or even in 2014. And Trump definitely appears inclined to let them.
Remember that the Cuban Missile Crisis ended in a negotiated solution. Cuba was not invaded. But Putin is no JFK.

Only Putin could have prevented it. It is his war of choice -- the Russian people were not clamoring for war, and Ukraine did nothing to provoke him. Nobody poked the bear. Putin started this war because he wanted to install a pro-Russian puppet regime in Ukraine to match the one he already has in Belarus.
