What are we all writing right now?

The End of Our World - a group of seven college friends meet up at a lake house eight years after graduating for what is likely their last group vacation there, as they've grown apart over time. A swap happens between two couples, crossing boundaries the group hadn't before. Things seem mostly okay the next morning, but then...

With a title like that, I must insist on the untimely appearance of a giant meteor.

You’re not far off. I got the idea from the Hawaii emergency broadcast message fuck up from a few years back, the one that said a ballistic missile was inbound.

We just re-watched Melancholia.

Emily

I have two stories in the works.

The first is 'Savory Lies and Deadly Spies.' It's an entry heading into the Mike Hammer event due in July. It has all of @ChloeTzang's descriptors for being gritty, violent, and sexist. Of course, the main character is an alcoholic detective. I have a promise of a beta reader, but that's on hold for a bit. The text is about 14,000 words.

The second story is 'Bobby's Metamorphosis, Love's Spark.' It is my first attempt in the Transgender category. The three principal characters are male, male, and female. The last two are siblings. It is about 15,000 words and involves some melancholy remembrances of how this came to be in flashback mode.

I would welcome input if anyone would like to review either of these before they are published. Of course, I'll credit your contribution if I have your permission. :)

Focused on a part 2 to my shrunken story.
wrote, and re wrote a few hours last night. Had not touched it for a few weeks prior to that. It’s very likely that part 2 will be the final one, if I can find a good way to end it, or maybe it doesn’t need ended. Not sure yet.

It’s an excellent movie. One of the most sensitive treatments of depression (and the end of the world) ever. And Dunst is luminous in it.

Emily

I still have to see that movie. I just saw her in Civil War. She was not luminous--it wasn't a movie for luminous performances. Convincingly gritty, I'd say. Very, very good. I have mixed feelings about the movie itself, but I'd recommend it to someone who's already predisposed to see it.

I wrapped up my nun/barbarian femdom story (undergoing edits for the last chapters), so I've moved on to my next series.

A sequel to the first series I ever wrote here (Duchess of Lust), following the journey of a barbarian witch who gets embroiled in feudal politics in a foreign land, chronicling her rise as a power behind the scenes. To pump some more eroticism into it, as a witch she's unlocked the ability to have vaguely-prophetic visions when she climaxes (usually pertaining to her partner or the place she's in). So lots of fun/weird sex magic.

The warm reception to my non-human/alien/tentacle-dick story has me thinking of dipping my toes into that category again, but for now my focus is on the sex witch stuff.

Right now I'm writing a little bit of this, a little bit of that. Not dedicating myself full time to anyone story. I may try to change that on Friday, since this method isn't leading to anything getting published.

I'm working on three stories at the moment, two of which are collaborations, writing about subjects and areas I'm not familiar with, which is challenging but enjoyable.

I'll be starting my first romance story this weekend. A down on his luck sports med doc and the female manager/coach of a ladies roller derby team. Lots of colorful characters and two lonely people finding love again.

Oh boy, I actually have almost too much going on right now.
  • First, I'm making some finishing touches on a somewhat longer (18k) I/T story that I'll publish in one go once the OnTheJob event is over.
  • Then, I'm revising the ending to another I/T story that I botched so badly that I decided to take down the last chapter and rewrite large parts of.
  • And finally, I'm trudging along with a T&CD/futanari story I started weeks ago. This thing has grown to be by far the most complex and drama-filled plot line I've been dealing with, and at almost 15k is only somewhere around half-way done. At least I do have a plan how to finish it now, but it's going to take quite a bit more time.
Oh, and I also wanted to look into the Geek Pride event, which means I'd likely have to put some of the above on hold if I come up with a decent idea for it. (So far, I'm "thankfully" having trouble with that).

Finally puzzled out a difficult bit in "Gates of Enchantment" that has been holding me up forever. My own rules on wild magic were crossing me up. LOL Once I get past this scene, the next half a dozen are straightforward, which takes me nearly to the end.

I'm not actually writing a story now, but I'm mulling the next one to be written, which, atypically, is a response to the reader calls for a sequel to "The Leading Man." I'm taking the basic character of that, where the story is of a recruitment of a spy, to Southeast Asia, where the new recruitment will, himself, recruit a spy.

I'm not writing currently (after a flurry of churning out stories), though, because I'm preparing a Hardesty mystery for posting here in chapters and my publisher is delving into my "to be published" backlog for the marketplace, which necessitates review and other effort from me.

What happens on Friday?

I'm getting an early start on my geek pride story. It's a meet-cute between a trans man and a cis man who, prior to their meeting, had considered himself straight. My last story was some pretty ugly business, so I wanted to write something sweet. There's a lot of gender fuckery, which I find both hot and tremendously romantic.
