In any other administration, the DoD would be toast. But not this one.

1) Not using secure communications.
2) Not keeping a record of deliberations (the Signal communication was set to auto-delete after a week)
3) Worrying more about "how it would look." (For example, worrying that it was looking as if the USA was doing the work that European countries should have been doing, since much more of their trade goes through the Red Sea, while in other situations demanding that Europe do the heavy lifting)
4) Dithering
5) Giving the go order with the President (golfing in Florida?) out of the loop.
6) Pointing fingers of blame ("Oh, no, I didn't release any secrets, that was all Pete Hegseth's fault!" or "That journalist we invited in by mistake was a traitor!")

(I personally believe the materials cleared for release had details / information that negatively impacted national security, but apparently there was even more dangerous details / information exposed in that text chain that the CIA wanted redacted.)

Maybe I should have been clearer. They should have put them out of business. A strike here, a strike there is nothing. Biden, Trump, potato tomato... A force needs to be deployed to be on patrol 24/7 for the Houthis and Somali pirates. Ships have water cannons etc, fuck that, they need squads of armed soldiers. Assault groups to attack on shore.
