Great share! AF was one of the craziest shows I’ve ever been to… a Friday the 13th at a tiny venue AustinDay 14: A song from the 10s
Going to NYC back in the day was an adventure. Being in NYC was an adventure too. Bus to port authority, or train to Penn station, then the 1 down to Houston street (pronounced HOW-ston) to the Bowery.
Agnostic Front was one of the first US skinhead bands. Everyone equated skins with nazis back then, but if you were in the know they were totally regular guys and not racist in any way and in fact quite the opposite. Street punk and hardcore were more fitting terms. They were just rough as hell and so were their friends and fans!
Going To NYC was always a bit of a role of the dice back then. CBGBs would have hardcore matinee every Sunday afternoon for (usually) five bucks and three bands. Saw some absolutely stupid shows there, most memorable was Stisism, Youth of Today and Agnostic Front on the same bill. $6, cash.
That was either 1984 or 85. I was a junior in HS.
It was good to see them the other night. My friends, Dave, and Rob (both RIP) are both in this video. A throwback to the good ol bad ol daze youth crew days of the 80s.Now everyone lives in Queens, the island or Jersey. No working class people can afford to live in NYC anymore. This is their ode to old NY.
It wasn’t always good.
