In 1988, I got a bonus at work, and bought, a brand new Gibson Les Paul. With an ebony fretboard. At the time, that was (to me) the best. Frankly, still think Ebony is the best fretboard.

During a low point in my life, my beloved asked me if she could pawn my beloved guitars. Since she was more important to me, I said yes. She promised she would return them in a week or two, I am a fucking idiot. Of course I never saw them again.

Many years later, I found a very similar Les Paul on eBay and bought it. Fast forward a very few years, and my life was again, in the toilet. And I was willing to sell my replacement, Les Paul. A serious person noticed in the photos a hairline crack in the neck. I then saw it too, and pulled my ads trying to sell it.

Tonight, for the first time in almost 3 years, I pulled it out of the case, tuned it up, and let her sing. And, here, she is. Good, bad, or ugly….
