Ok, I'm sure this was probably meant as a joke, but I moved here in August knowing no one here. I've been trying to get out and do things and make friends that stick. This is the first one that I think there's that chance with, and her husband is a drummer in a "yacht rock" band. So, lots of opportunities for going out and enjoying live music again. I'm just really amped about this. So, yes, I'm making friends.

Music is a good medium for finding friendship.

So true. It's funny it's not how we met, but it's the first time they invited me to one of his shows. It felt really nice. I used to go out to things like that all the time.

I have met and maintained many online friendships through our love of music.

I love that so, so much!

Getting out and attending a live show where you can strut your stuff will only help getting that social footing in place in your new locale. Happy for you!

Went to a good Middle Eastern restaurant Friday and saw a movie. The Ballad of Wallis Island. It was an awkward comedy and I laughed so hard.

Idk, again, everyone I hung out with last night ranged from 20-40 years older than me, so a lot like this group on Lit (with a few exceptions). But, recharging those introvert batteries I'm sure is very nice on the weekends.

It's not actually feasible but due to some pretty terrible things to start 2025 I'm just really ready to both literally and figuratively run away but not actually? If that makes sense.....

I get that, completely. Not into yard work, and have allergic reactions to cut grass. When I bought my house, I had a spouse who enjoyed puttering around in the yard. So after becoming a widow, I hired someone to mow and maintain the yard. That’s why it looks nice.

Totally get that. I think everyone has stuff that happens sometimes where this is a feeling. Just not everyone needs to act on it. I guess if you get to a point you do, that's a whole nother story.

Actually, that is the same for me. Almost all my friends that have been close to me, are older than me. I can only think of one person who I was close to that is younger than me.

I mentioned that to one of my friends (who is 15 years older than me or so), he said that was true of him as well… he has just outlived most of them.
