Well, hashbrowns and tater tots are both made with grated potatoes and pretty much taste about the same. It's just the tater tots tend to be more crunchy and that texture makes them more appealing with a hamburger or a sandwich or as a side on the dinner plate. Hashbrowns are more a breakfast or brunch item here.

They can be made either way, but I prefer shredded, with shredded onions as well

So I had a happy thought Sunday. I always bake my bacon on a rack on a rimmed baking sheet and after thought why waste this fat…tossed my frozen crispy crowns (think thin tater tots) on the hot bacon fat covered tray and back in the oven…out came the most delicious,crispy potato goodness! I’m sure it’s been done before but what took me so long to discover this?!?!
