Day 12: A song from the 90s - 1995

Sailor Moon Theme Song

I'm a kid of the 90s, and this song and series were a big part of that for me. Being part Japanese and one of my best friends being Korean, we were the only Asian (or part Asian in my case) kids around our town. We bonded over many things, one of which was Sailor Moon. Hearing the theme song takes me right back to being young, sleeping over at her house, and watching all the Sailor Moon episodes and movies on VHS late into our Friday nights.

Day 12: a Song from the 90s :

Day 12- A song from the 1990s

The Trash Can Sinatras was a one of the first 90s college bands that really connected to me. They have a lot of fun with wordplay and that is really in my wheelhouse. I also like that they are not afraid to sound Scottish without veering into " An' I weeel walk five 'un-dreed miles" territory. This was from their debut album, Cake, and this is probably my second favorite song by them (I already used the first, I think, or I am saving it -- one of the two. It's been a long day...)

"You're deep in conversation where you really swim
And in the shallow water, I'm the first one in
A straight-forward answer is out of the question
Why her whole body joins in in the way she smiles
But it's all too much of a muchness for me"

"Circling The Circumference," The Trash Can Sinatras (1990)

(+1 for Scottish band (Irvine, Scotland), +360 points for the circumference, for a total of 1029 and 1/3 points, a free kick, a balk, a bang on the ear, and a nice gefilte fish that I will offer to someone who likes it.)

My Latest Novel came out of Greenock & Gourock, outside Glasgow. I started following them after seeing them open for Wolf Parade in 2007 or so. Unfortunately, they only put out two albums, but both are worth hunting up.

"Ghost in the Gutter," My Latest Novel (2006)

(+1 for Scottish band, -1 for an annoying name, for at total of 1029 and 1/3 points, a free kick, a balk, a bang on the ear, a nice gefilte fish, and they pulled the goalie!)

Day 10: A song from the 70's
The Sensational Alex Harvey Band was a Glaswegian band that was part psychedelia and part proto-punk. Fronted by Alex Harvey, they mixed in cabaret, street art, and street theater together. I like this one because it is interesting to see American events from a far different viewpoint, in this case, The Boston Tea Party.

"Redcoats in the village and there's fighting in the streets
Indians and the Mountain Men are talking when they meet
The king has said he's going to put a tax on tea
And that's the reason y'all Americans drink coffee"

I like this live version far better than the released singe.

"Boston Tea Party," The Sensational Alex Harvey Band (1976)

(+1 for Scottish Artist, +73 points for 1773, for a total of 660 and 1/3 points, a free kick, and a balk.)
SAHB was way ahead of their time.

I always wanted one of their records and had read about them, but could never find one (moby grape too). Luckily CDs came out (and later internet) and I found this stuff.

It was worth the wait!

Day 12- A song from the 90's.
This song made me think of the kind of choices you make when you're starting out on your own. What do I want to do with my life? Where do I want to go? Now, looking back it makes me think did my life make a difference to anyone else?

Now, looking back it makes me think did my life make a difference to anyone else?

Of course it did! Look where you are now! And all of the people you’ve positively impacted!
