I popped onto Lit as I was leaving work and now I’m wondering if I’m the person being referenced as defending people that download pictures from Lit.

There is no expectation of privacy here. If someone chooses to post publically they have chosen to share with everyone here. I think it is then hypocritical to be upset when you chose to share publically?
Are we really saying it is ok to enjoy the photo only when it is up online? And what are we concerned folks are doing with the photos? Masturbstubg? Well be honest, folks that are doing that to photos online are doing it while they are posted as well.

Because I think most people understand that yes, we are saying it’s only okay while it’s up.

I was also further surprised when you continued to misrepresent what I had written and post about it. I never defended anyone and I did not blame people. I expressed surprise that people were so surprised by the behavior. I also don’t think we live in a society with norms and expectations that everyone agrees on while on Lit. I feel that when we have friends and connections it can give us the impression that we have a group of like-minded people around us. Unfortunately, this is an online forum and there is no membership required and no Expectation of any set norms. Anyone can view the threads and the images and we have no control over what someone may do with them. We can hope that folks may behave a certain way, but I don’t think we can expect it.

I’m not misrepresenting or misunderstanding anything. The amount of daylight between its hypocritical or pointless to expect better for reasons and this thing is okay is virtually nonexistent. The rest of your argument is noise. We’re not getting mad at every rando, though those do make me mad. We were getting mad at a specific person who claims to be part of our community.

Not at all. Accepting responsibility for naive expectations is not victim blaming.
This is not a case of a girl wearing a short skirt and “asking for it”.
The images were not stolen. They were sent freely. Reminding people to be careful who they trust and that the internet is forever doesn't fit victim blaming. If you don't want there to be a chance of those things getting out, then don't send them. As adults the only person we can control is ourselves.

And as I said there was no denying that trust in these cases was broken. Still there is no rule against it. Socially or site-wide.

That does not change the culpability of the image sender. Or the breach of the other party.

I have a question, why are you so angry about my post? A reminder to be careful. A reminder that senders control their images being sent. What exactly do you have an issue with?

For me, it was the attitude of entitlement that came with it. Like they’re publicly posted, I’m able to save them, therefore it’s okay for me to save them and post about how much I’ve been doing it, nevermind the fact that these are people I’ve been interacting with regularly for quite some time and gave some impression of caring about on some level. I think it’s more of the nonchalant excuse of “I did no wrong”. Personally, if you’re saving my pics to your personal file because I didn’t add “Please don’t save” to every post, that’s a skeez thing to do. The fact that one feels no wrongdoing was done when it was brought up and then gets to feel justified? Admit you’re being a jackass in a COMMUNITY we thought was fun to share in. I get it, it took me a while to share pics but, naively didn’t think that I’d be added to some creepy folder. Silly me has learned that lesson. But the guys on here are looking for wank fodder. It is why they are here. You have to keep that in mind when posting. Are you ok with some random using your image in that way? While a poster may want to control the use of its image; once it is up, it legally belongs to Lit. In case you didn't know.

You absolutely are. You said I blamed people and I didn’t. You said I defended folks that downloaded images and I didn’t. You have misrepresented what I said. If it makes you feel better to believe that you know what I said better than I do go for it but it does not make it true. I don’t even know who the person that claimed to be downloading pics is and I don’t care.
As I’ve said, downloading someone else’s pics is gross but there is no expectation of any kind of behavior because of the nature of where we are.
As posters, the only thing we can control is what we choose to share. This is not a violation of trust like it would be if you privately shared something(which also happens but is even worse in my mind.) this is a public forum where people that you do not know can and do download images.
Being upset because you thought they were on the same page may be understandable but it is not shocking. We need to always be asking ourselves how well we know someone.
Boasting about doing it and not being shamed by others when they share their unhappiness is frustrating and probably infuriating but it just exemplifies what I am saying. WE DO NOT REALLY KNOW THE FOLKS ON HERE. Would you give every person that you interact with personal details like your full name and address? No. And why not? Because you don’t really know them. Or it may not be safe. We have learned about internet safety. Hell, we probably taught our kids about it. But can folks honestly say they are following the lessons they taught their kids? I know my lessons DID NOT include promoting posting sexy pics. In fact, my lessons were DO NOT post pics.
Be disappointed in the behavior of others but don’t forget to look at your own compliance in the situation. I think this hurts so much because folks know they were lulled into a false sense of security and that realizations sucks.
