A bot and a chat bot are two different technologies.

A bot is a very rudimentary program that will usually post a very limited text (usually advertising) targeted at anyone who posts in a specific forum. On the good side, they provide a prompt automated response. On the bad side they can drive ordinary customers away with their incessant posting.

A chat bot is a more advanced program that will attempt to simulate a conversation by analyzing the language used and then responding to specific questions or conversation points with a (sometimes) appropriate response. They are more advanced and some are getting pretty good at simulating a human interaction.

It’s not scary, much like the PG really. There are a handful of posters that grace a lot of ignore lists, though. And it’s much slower and tamer than it once was over there.

I’ve only peeked in. The playground keeps my hands full. And as a Lit toddler, I prefer the sandbox. Unless someone takes a shit in it.

I grew up on a cattle farm so that doesn’t bother me none. At least rinse the damn eggs
