🙄🤪 What are your biggest pet peeves? 🙄🤪

1. People in public smoking anything and then calling me names when I hack up lungs
2. Phone zombies!!

The new tipping culture. I don’t tip for fast food.
I will tip a dollar at Starbucks because most times, like 10 out of 11 times, they see me coming and have my drinks either started or done before I order LOL

People who say they didn't have time yet are on Social media 25 hours a week.

Whilst I don't disagree with this, what gets my goat is both the people who post their lives as perfect (including pics that are often filtered), AND the people who *believe* that the poster's life is one big rosy party.

Too much damage is done all round by trying to live up to false expectations on/for social media.

When the back and forth flirting and writing is starting to get more erotic, I start realizing the woman is no longer writing me unless I ask why she isn't...and then the explanation is short and not helping resolve whatever the issue actually is...

Grammar and usage has me peeved today. At the top of my list are (and I'm referring to the practices of people who present themselves as writers and/or journalists):

Using "awhile" as a noun

Saying "less" when they mean "fewer"

Using "of" in place of the contraction " 've " for "have"

And to a lesser degree (I'm getting myself over this one, baby steps) using "podium" when they mean "lectern."

No, I don't correct people, I swallow hard and move on, that's why they are peeves being aired here. {sigh} (and yes I realize I do literally a million things that irritate others...)😉

Ugh, the of instead of the ‘ve contraction is like nails on a chalkboard for me!

I’d also add people who use weary instead of wary.

People telling me that my recipe for Polish stuffed cabbage is WRONG, despite it being well over 100 years old AND a family recipe! Golumpki in our family do NOT have any tomato products on them, since Babci, my Polish ethnic Russian Empire immigrant great-grandmother brought it over from the Old Country in 1912. The only changes she made were to the binders, rice instead of barley. The meat's the same 2 parts ground sirloin, 2 parts ground pork, 1 part ground veal, it's just now called meatloaf/meatball mix.

Can you give an example of "awhile" for the class?
