1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die

Todd Rudgren!!! whooo hoooo on there twice.

I did pretty good for the 60's and 70's... didn't know much of the later stuff.

This is gonna be difficult to fit in while getting through the sexual checklist, seeing the most interesting places on earth, and garnering another Pulitzer Prize.

So, I'll listen to 25 albums at a time.

Any list with Limp Bizkit on it is invalid and retarded.

Well Lev, you outdid yourself. Good list here--was just looking for some that I was SURE wouldn't be included, and there they were.

It's not as fun when you can't invalidate a thread

1990's

o Soundgarden – Superunknown
o Sepultura – Roots
o Marilyn Manson – Antichrist Superstar
o Prodigy – Fat of the Land
o Korn – Follow the Leader
o Slipknot – Slipknot (1st Album)
o Metallica – S&M
o Red Hot Chili Peppers – Californication
possibly the worse releases by those bands

also, you include Wilco, but not Son Volt or Jay Farrar's solo material.

The best of alt country, IMHO.

Petty, Tom & the Heartbreakers - Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers (1st Album)

Hell Yeah.

whoever compiled that list did a really great job. cuts across genres. doesn't focus only on known bands or obscure bands. and identifies a lot of truly wonderful and many important discs.

I totally agree.

Thanks for sharing them all, Lev....err....One Million.

Glad to see the Dictators made the 70s list. And they`re still at it today!

What is the source for this list?

I was pleasently surprised to see a number of albums that are true classics but not that well known at the time, but too many seem to have been picked on popularity alone.

Don't know the original source. A friend e-mailed it to me and I thought it would be something the board could use as sort of a guide to build their respective collections.
