400,000 lives

True, but no one forced these people to keep using.

This reminds me of when the CIA was flooding the ghettos with crack cocaine. The inner city folks knew this was case yet they kept buying.

These people have been warned, repeatedly, of the addictive nature of opioids yet they have gone out of their way to get them.

Yes they have. So by your logic we should curtail all drug interdiction and arrests of drug dealers because you know the people have been warned it's addictive.

We have 78,000 (give or take) residents in my county. From 2010 to 2016 the drug companies imported and sold enough opiates in this county to dose every man, woman and child here with 80 pills a piece PER YEAR. Don't tell me they didn't know that it was finding it's way to the illegal market. They pushed, bribed and paid off people to sell their drugs no matter who it harmed as long as they made a profit. And now they want to file bankruptcy and walk away with pockets full of money they made by killing people. I really don't see how that is defensible.

There's a thin line between genius and madness. :)

And an even thinner line between curmudgeon and asshole.

At least I don't hide behind passive/aggressive bullshit. :)

I am so sorry I bruised your ego. I had no idea it was so fragile. Maybe you should declare a "No Reply Zone" to keep that from happening. After all everyone should realize how straight forward, honest and kind you are.

There is kindness in the truth. As usual, you give yourself too much credit. :)

All the hysteria ignores the fact people with chronic pain can and do live normal lives thanks to narcotics.
No one ever brings up those statistics, but the number of people who benefit from painkillers and don't abuse them shouldn't be forgotten.

You ignore all the needless deaths.

Oh, sure, you're such a help. A parasitic drone here, but you seem to think of that as help. Those juvenile Internet games don't work with me. Save your nonsense.

Parasite. That's a interesting word to use. I haven't written the same formula style story 1,000 times. I haven't created a fantastic back story. I don't take part in multiple forum categories, claiming some form of expertise in each. I haven't stated that I generate the profit that Literotica needs to continue existing.

How would you survive without Literotica?

In the case of Purdue Pharma and the Sackler family, they willfully ignored the effects of their drugs on certain people and aggressively campaigned for doctors to push their product. Drugs to help is a good thing, drugs for profit beyond what is necessary is not.

I remember being in a post-op recovery room, and the nurse attending me asks me, "On a scale of 1 to 10, what is your pain level." ... I said, "1, but I am thirsty" and a minute later, "On a scale of 1 to 10, what is your pain level" and I said, "1, but I do have a headache, can I get some water," and she said, "Oh, we have something for that," and she pumped my IV line full of something that a lot better than a Motrin.

I was also prescribed Tylenol 3 for the pain, even though I never had to use them. I didn't "tough it out" either. The surgery didn't leave me in any pain a Motrin couldn't take care of.

Again, the things you mention are not prescribed and recommended by a doctor who gets paid to be a dealer.

"Migraines? Take these, it'll be fine. Oh you need more? No problem. Even more, sure thing! Oops, now you're physically addicted. I'll be on the golf course."

And this is the fault of the drug manufacturer how...?

Opiods are a controlled substance. To get them you have to have written permission. the manufacturer supplies the substance in response to the demand, it doesn't create the demand because it has no power to provide the written permission slip.

Thus, if the drugs are being "overused"/abused, it's a problem with the gatekeepers, not the manufacturer(s).

Oooo, triggered and skewered you are. :D

I agree that you're nothing other than an impotent, irrelevant parasitic drone here. I thought of putting you on ignore but you'll be banned and just come back as another BB soon enough because you have nothing else to do/place to go.

Give it a rest asshole. No one is "required" to contribute to the story side of the site. Or start lambasting the rest of the usual suspects for the same thing you're spouting here.

if this thread was a trap to find out which people have absolutely zero empathy i'd say it's worked out fairly well.

Since your own writing is mediocre, it's a good thing you emulate an iconic figure. (But your entire persona is fiction, isn't it?)

Each of your posts are more desperate than the last, and you've fallen so low as to repeat what people say to you right back to them.

You could no more put me on ignore, or ignore responding to quoted posts of mine, than you could leave Literotica.

You are trapped here, because no one else will take you, but more pertinently, you're too afraid to leave Literotica.

My lack of empathy for stupid people who do bad things to themselves has no basis for telling me I'm liable for the bad things stupid people did to themselves.

That's because he'd have to face himself.

58,586,256 Abortions in America Since Roe v. Wade in 1973

How many where necessary?

How many could have been prevented by a little forethought?

How much money did these killings make?

And finally what is the untold reckoning in money and misery afterwards?

OK. CUE the lets keep murdering 'em support group!

You are up!

I said years ago we live in a culture of Death.

Oh yes, let's bankrupt all of the drug companies because they created a wonder drug that has been irresponsibly prescribed by lazy doctors, illegally possessed by a network of criminal elements, and abused by initially innocent people too weak and dependent to avoid and report addiction.

It's not so much the drugs. It's the marketing and kickback schemes based in greed by the drug companies. Look at the number of ads on TV and in printed media. Most of those should not be available to the public at all, but the drug companies are desperate to create a market for their concoctions. Then look around the next time you're in a medical clinic noticing all the ads and promotional materials, notepads, sticky pads, calendars, pens, etc. Clinics receive 'incentives' (aka kickbacks) for promoting the products.

*cough*

First Amendment.

The rest of what you're trying to say is not illegal. Nor does advertising create blame for misuse by the consumer.

The Corvette is fast and powerful. Chevrolet is NOT RESPONSIBLE if someone gets behind the wheel and drives drunk or street races with one. Nor is Car & Driver responsible even though they have ads for the car in their magazine.

Your entire theory is BS because you feel the need to blame someone and you can't blame the dead guy for killing himself.

drug companies are fucking evil. fuck 'em. they've always been pushers and they always will be pushers. they'd sell us all straight poison if they did the math and thought they could make a profit off of it.

Coca-Cola includes as an ingredient a coca leaf extract prepared by a Stepan Company plant in Maywood, New Jersey.[4] The facility, which had been known as the Maywood Chemical Works, was purchased by Stepan in 1959.[5] The plant is the only commercial entity in the United States authorized by the Drug Enforcement Administration to import coca leaves, which come primarily from Peru. Approximately 100 metric tons of dried coca leaf are imported each year. The cocaine-free leaves are sold to The Coca-Cola Company for use in soft drinks, while the cocaine is sold to Mallinckrodt, a pharmaceutical firm, for medicinal purposes.

It ain't just the pharmaceutical companies.
